upgrading new computer

Gigabyte is good. My GeForce 9600 was a Gigabyte and my current mobo is Gigabyte as well. I have tons of friends that swear by their stuff.

I can vouch for Gigabyte as well. I have a micro-ATX mobo that I used in my HTPC. No issues. Good quality stuff.

Thanks for answering all my questions. Never been big into computer gaming before and my Last rebuild did not go so well, stuck a AMD 3870 OC into a dell dimension case, last about 2 years then fried. What do you think about Gigabyte? Still have to drill some holes into the front of my case first though. the front is sealed. And a mechanical keyboard. Maybe a cheap IBM-M. the keyboard it came with sucks.

Looking at the card you listed (and it's two giant fans), I doubt it would have heating problems.

If you wan't a new keyboard, I use an Adesso 135b. It's one of the cheaper mechanical keyboards on the market and I love it. The only worry I really have with it is the letters are printed directly on the keys and will probably fade pretty quickly. I've had mine for 3 months and I'm starting to see some slight fade, but I also have hyperhidrosis in my hands which doesn't help I'm sure. I had an aluminum mouse that pitted after like 6 months because of it.

so with my setup keeping the CPU what type of games could I run on max settings at a resolution of 1600X900, how about Guild Wars 2? that is the newest game I am interested in at the moment.

Hard to say, as it's still being optimized and all. In my system, it was quite playable, but not optimal, at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed (high 20s-low 50s fps). That's with a 6870. If you picked up a 6850, then I have little doubt that it'll be playable. GW2Guru's laptop thread was recommending at least a 6750m for 1600x900 play, with no AA.

And a mechanical keyboard. Maybe a cheap IBM-M. the keyboard it came with sucks.

Thanks, though depending on budget I might have to go with a 6790, which is slower but not hugely. most bench marks at my resolution at most is 5-7 frames slower. Darn budgets. Then again prices should drop by the time I get the money. Has anyone on here ever used a 6790?
