Mike Tyson's Punch Out (Nes) just never gets old for me
Psychonauts (xbox), Super Mario Bros.2 & 3,
more recently, on xbla, Pinball FX2 (Moon Knight and Thor tables) and Limbo(love trying to get that perfect playthrough)
Which games do you never get tired of playing?
Re: Which games do you never get tired of playing?
Let's see:
SMS:
Astro Warrior - Gosh so much nostalgia on this one. Memories of my Dad and I playing this one all the time together.
Bomber Raid - Same
Wonderboy III - One of the first Master System Games, actually games in general that I have beaten.
Genesis:
Sonic 3 - Going Super Sonic is always awesome. I never managed to get all the Chaos Emeralds on Sonic 2, so this was my first glimpse into being Super Sonic.
Flicky - So cute!
Dreamcast:
Shenmue: The Soundtrack and playing it during my high school days gives it a lot of meaning to me.
Phantasy Star Online - One of my favorite games of all time. Every once in a while, I'll pop it in for the nostalgia and a run through Forest, etc.
Gamecube:
Animal Crossing is one of those timeless games that hasn't lost its appeal to me since it came out. The music, gameplay, and general feel of the game always gets me.
PSO Episodes I & 2: Same. I also have it on Xbox, but I can't play it anymore.
Xbox:
Jet Set Radio Future - UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND
Shenmue II
Last, Final Fantasy VIII and the Metal Gear Solid Series is one that I have no problem going back to any time. There's something about them that always draws me in.

Re: Which games do you never get tired of playing?
I have trouble replaying games. Especially RPGs. Too many new games to play.
I think I do have a couple, though:
Lumines II - Six years ago I would have said Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo instead, but this has pretty much taken it's place as my go to puzzler. I can sit down and sink a few hours of my life at a time into almost any puzzle game, but there are far fewer that I continually come back to.
Sonic-3&K - I'd include CD, but it's just not the part of my childhood the first three are. Last excuse I used to play through them was sonic's 20th. (Which I guess is a while ago now.) I played through Sonic 1 on June 6th, then just decided to play through the other two the next couple days.
Suikoden I-III - I actually need play through these again on my JP copies. (I guess the gaidens and the other three while I'm at it too.
) As I said, I usually have a hard time bringing myself to play through an RPG more than once (even if it's a port on another system) but something about the first three Suikodens compels me to play them again and again.
Chrono Cross - Say what you will, but Chrono Trigger is just less than dirt to me in comparison to Chrono Cross. I know that could be a bit of an inflammatory statement, but I just love the sequel; The aesthetics and artistry are gorgeous, the battle system is quirky and interesting, and the story blew my socks off back in the early 2000s. Also, Chrono Trigger doesn't have my favorite harlequin in it.
I wish I could put Shenmue I & II up there, but I haven't actually played them more than once. (Which I think is pretty much a travesty.)
Would have also liked to put some shooters in that list too, but as much as I love playing them, I also get incredibly frustrated with them. So there really isn't one that I can say I *never* get tired of.

Good topic!
Rival Schools / Project Justice - there is something about the Rival Schools playstyle and universe that I never tire of. Every year this series gets some play time.
Megaman X4 - My favorite Megaman game of all time. This game was the height of the series.
Megaman Legends - Second favorite Megaman game of all time. The bright world, fun story, and the characters are awesome. This is a game to play when I am depressed.
NiGHTS into Dreams - takes me back every time. Again, the atmosphere and the in-game world always make me feel good

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

And all this time I never knew it existed.
Incidentally, every time I try to play Rival Schools, the game hands me my ass on a platter. Very fun game to watch, though.

About the only thing that can beat Jarvis's Robotron 2084 is Joust.Valkyrie-Favor wrote:Defender. Nothing eats quarters faster than a Eugene Jarvis game!
I love that game so much.
Older. Not wiser.

Isn't it both frustrating and satisfying when you hit another jouster square on and you parry? It's a classic game I have to credit my father for introducing me to!RyaNtheSlayA wrote:About the only thing that can beat Jarvis's Robotron 2084 is Joust.Valkyrie-Favor wrote:Defender. - Darius Gaiden - Saturn
Something about this game always has me coming back for more giant mechanical space fish action. It probably helps that there are about 25+ levels. As I begin playing G-Darius, I now think that it takes the cake as my favorite Darius game.
- Metroid Zero Mission - Game Boy Advance
I have beaten this game at least 50 times. This happens a few times a year, with me seeking out new and exciting speed run routes. Challenging myself by skipping certain power-ups, or simply playing the fucking game. I have 100%ed it on hard. I have 100%ed it in an hour and 5 minutes. I have beaten it on easy in under 35 minutes. I have beaten it with less than 15% power-ups. The only thing I have left is 15%ing it on Hard in less than two hours.
- F-Zero X - Nintendo 64
There will come a day. When I am ready for F-Zero GX, and all its fabulous glory.
