I started playing this game, and it is SOOOO BOOORING. The battle system sucks (wtf were they even trying to do with it? An RPG with cover shooter mechanics? :S), the cast is sooooooooooooo stereotypically anime and so is the story. The story's pacing is horrible, you don't get any proper back story, the hero is an orphan who's hometown was burned when he was a kid, he gets secret powers yata yata yata yata yata....
Seriously, this game looks more like a parody of JRPGs than a true game...too bad it actually takes itself seriously.
Xenoblade was sooooooooooooo much better. Xenoblade had an amazing opening...
anyway, these are only my first impressions, but this game just made me want to play xenoblade again

People bash FF13 for being too simple. This is even worse. Plus cover and shooter mechanics (the main character uses a crossbow which you must aim manually in real time), typical anime cliche without anything to make it feel fresh, and you get generic and bland.kingmohd84 wrote:if I didnt know you, I would have said you were trolling. Perhaps it is because the last JRPG I played was so good. But I think FF13 was better than this game too, so yeah.....
I don't know mate. Watch a playthrough on youtube of the first 30 minutes if you want to make up your mind. I personally didn't like it so far
I may change my mind, but usually I tend to be good at judging a game's value quite fast.

I'm gonna try it out when it's released in the U.S. It's so hyped that I can't just ignore it.
Re: The Last Story (wii) confirmed for US release
I agree with ZeroAX 100%. Xenoblade absolutely puts this game to shame, I was more or less stunned when I played The Last Story. Couldn't believe how boring it was. I can't think of a single redeeming quality even. Most forgettable characters ever, boring and thoughtless music, the mindless combat "gameplay" is literally you just holding the stick forward (not exaggerating), art direction is bland as hell, the UK voice overs are atrocious, I had to force myself to play this game for the 3-5 hours I put into it and I never want to touch it again.
I also agree that FF 13 is better, which says a lot coming from me being the huge FF 13 hater I am. I don't know what the hell happened with this game. Lost Odyssey was great.

How the fuck did I forget to mention the "point stick at enemy" combat mechanic? And people complained about FF13. There at least you pressed a button or 2.brunoafh wrote:Most forgettable characters ever, boring and thoughtless music, the mindless combat "gameplay" is literally you just holding the stick forward (not exaggerating), art direction is bland as hell, the UK voice overs are atrocious,
The music is bad? I didn't really notice it cause I was playing at night and had to lower the music volume....oh dear....and since this is from Nobuo I thought it'd be amazing.....that sucks
Art direction and characters ARE bland, but the voice acting didn't seem so bad to me. It's the writing that killed it mostly.

I wouldn't say the music is bad, it's just very... average and "whatever", like everything else about the game. The reason I come down hard on the OST is because it's Uematsu, and, quite reasonably, I expect greatness out of Uematsu OSTs. The Xenoblade OST smashes it.

Am I the only one who thinks that Final Fantasy reached its great stride (6-9) because this guy DIDN'T have total control over the game's design?

out of topic but since every one in love with Xenoblade , which to play Xenogears or Xenoblade. Am not an RPG fan but I am willing to make time for those best through history,
on my mind chrono trigger/cross , ff7 , and secret of mana. I was told secret of mana is kind of better than trigger

And I sold it off today. Even made a 2€ profit. Good riddance. Now if you'll excuse me, I am off to play some Harvest Moon (what I made with half of the money I made back
)
