Got my Arcade clear time down to 2'26'49 with Siegfried. This is with only 4 ring outs altogether.

Re: Together Retro: Soul Calibur
I've only played DOA 1 and 2 (and Paradise which doesn't count here haha) but I've enjoyed them both way more than the Soul Calibur series. Really, as it seems, I only like SC4... and only when I'm playing against real people online.Ack wrote: Really? DOA always felt like a bad counter-fest to me. All you had to do was counter, and you would pretty much auto-win.

So I decided to try out Yoshimitsu and found out that his attacks ranged from making vulgar gestures to recover health and spinning around then teleporting to stabbing himself and spinning around like a top. This isn't even mentioning how he uses his weapon like a flaming pogo stick. What.

Re: Together Retro: Soul Calibur
This thread needs some love.
I played a couple rounds through the arcade mode of SCII last week but couldn't get through with no continues. I'll probably try again today or tomorrow.
I'd go play SCI but I left the Dreamcast at home. Poor forethought. I prefer it, even if it doesn't have Link.

Re: Together Retro: Soul Calibur
I think this month made me realize that I'm not a very big SC fan. I still like SC4 enough to keep it, but only because enough of us here are playing it online.YoshiEgg25 wrote:This thread needs some love.

Playing Soul Calibur made me realize how long Febuary could be.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I'd be playing more if my disc was more reliable. I enjoyed it quite a bit whenever it decided to work, and I love the second game.YoshiEgg25 wrote:This thread needs some love.

Anyway, Ys next month should get more conversation. I understand it's confusing and there might be a lot of questions about where to go, especially if you have Book 1 AND 2.

Re: Together Retro: Soul Calibur
Thats pretty unfair. Arcade mode is short, but all of the main series soul calibur games have story modes and whatnot to play through which are considerably longer.noiseredux wrote:lol. Well said. Re: Together Retro: Soul Calibur
Sadly, a game like SC isn't built for a month, or so it seems. Between that and Axelay, other shmup score threads, the Donkey Kong challenge, my GBA acquisition, it's been a busy month for games for me.
At least it got me to get a new Dreamcast ASAP. I've just been playing other games on it besides SC -- this replacement unit works like a brand new console -- the seller kept it in great shape.
Now if I didn't miss KOF 98 last year -- all the character combinations with that, and the fact that I have it on DC -- would give a lot of love.
It appears that the games that have more ports, as well as those that contribute to a complete play through (such as last month's GAW) will generate more conversation. SC is packed with a lot of features, but I guess it doesn't have a lot of broad appeal so far
