I can remember playing SNES,N64,Gameboy games repeatedly back in the day, not the same now...
Definitely. In fact it's worse for me because I'm young. I have to play old games and new games. My backlog already killed itself.
I don't think this gen is any worse than the last two. I'm betting back in the SNES and N64 days you weren't seeking out and playing lots of old games, and that's the difference between then and now. I remember when I briefly flirted with being a current-gen-only gamer (back on PS2), I used to replay stuff all the time. When you're only focused on one set of systems at a time, it's a lot easier to play everything.
Totally not true for me. When the SNES and Genesis were out, while I loved them dearly, I still also played a bit on the Atari (Pole Position mostly) and NES. When the N64 was out, it definitely got much less play from me than the SNES. PS2 era? I was still buying PS1 games and trying to find the last N64 games. All that and current gen, too! Only this generation (since about 2005) have I not gotten anything from the current gen (well, except FFIV CC and Contra 4).

So many point and click adventures and cinematic platformers out there to choose from. A FPS game that isnt dumbed down would also be nice
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games) Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Pray tell where are these cinematic platformers you speak of? To my knowledge there hasn't been one since Heart of Darkness (PS1).

I was being sarcastic. Abes Exoddus was released a few months after Heart of Darkness and some people count Limbo as a cinematic platformer, but it hardly measures up to games like Out this world and Abes Odyssey
