I can elaborate. I should say, Myst Online Uru Live. Remember URU: Ages Beyond Myst back int he day? The strange third person exploration puzzle game set in the Myst Universe? It was intended to be an online MMO with new worlds and puzzles that would be put out episodically, continuing a storyline of this archeological foundation in their attempt to rebuild the ancient D'ni Civilization.

The online was never released until Gametap WAAAAY back in the day funded it and then subsequently canceled it. It rose from the ashes a few years ago when Cyan re-released it, preparing for it to become open source. It is to a degree, with fans making new Ages on private servers.

The thing was, there is a vibrant, well thought out world of Tolkien proportions that never truly got to be visualized. The story is unfinished and the world not fully explorable when it was intended to. I could write a freaking book on as to why Riven, Myst V and URU are infinitely better and should be more impacting on the gaming world than the original.

Shame, we were just talking about Shadow of the Colossus and Ico on Friday, BMF. I loved the two games, and kept that glimmer of hope alive that The Last Guardian would one day come to fruition. No such luck it seems. We can hope that soon its trademark is renewed, but development and updates are finally provided. I mean, it's only been 6 years right!?

Well, let's hope Thatgamecompany starts working on a new project. Their games are the only things I've played that feel like kindred spirits to Team Ico titles.

This is probably the closet thing we are going to get for a while:

I was never completely sold on the direction of The Last Guardian anyway. Sounds like they had real issues making it work like they wanted. Of course, as someone already pointed out, we did eventually get Duke Nukem Forever... which probably wasn't a good thing, and an ill harbinger for this game. :(
