Isn't it apparent? They both suck.Xeogred wrote:You have to explain this one.Pirate_Higemaru wrote:Roseanne (The 90s sitcom, not Roseanne herself) and Final Fantasy VII.
Just kidding, only Roseanne sucks.

Re: Weird Gaming Associations
I spent a lot of time playing FFVII while Roseanne was on in the background. At least, I think that was the case. I'm not even really a fan of Roseanne so I don't know why I watched it so much.Xeogred wrote:You have to explain this one.Pirate_Higemaru wrote:Roseanne (The 90s sitcom, not Roseanne herself) and Final Fantasy VII.

Ultima V and Metallica's '...And Justice for All' album. I played the crap out of that album while going through the dungeons in that game.
Final Fantasy 7 and my ex-wife
I got a "surprise!" divorce right after I started playing that game (back when it had just came out), and try as I might, I could never bring myself to go back and play it.
I never even got past the first disc.

I associate Final Fantasy VII with black-lights. I played through it in a room lit only by black-lights on a mid-70's television sitting on a wooden stool, while I sat in a folding camping chair.

Oh, now that's too bad. I remember after my first funeral, I avoided playing or watching anything that day to avoid unwanted association. I already have a bad memory associated with HL2: EP2, and that's one too many.ksloth wrote:Ultima V and Metallica's '...And Justice for All' album. Gah, I have the same sensation for Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube. Played through it with an ex-girlfriend, we had a rough split up later on. Maybe once I move and get unpacked I'll throw that game up on the B/S/Tksloth wrote:Ultima V and Metallica's '...And Justice for All' album. Re: Weird Gaming Associations
Definitely, although now that I think of it, most as summertime associations. The big exceptions I can think of are Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (Winter), Dogz (Winter), Shenmue (Winter), The Secret of Monkey Island (Fall), and Pokémon Gold (Fall).Pirate_Higemaru wrote:I also tend to associate certain games with certain seasons. I associate the Katamari games with Winter, Rocket Knight Adventures with Summer, Hotel Dusk with Fall, etc. Anybody else do that?
RyaNtheSlayA, I am amused to know that if we attended a classical piano concert together, we'd probably giggle through it.
I also have Sonic 1 firmly associated with "Electric Boogie (The Electric Slide)". Either one will remind me of the other.

Final Fantasy VI and those Giant tubs of three types of popcorn (butter, cheese, and Carmel). Ate through one of those while playing the floating continent...good stuff.
Earthbound and the scratch and sniff ads for the game.
Grim Fandango and Macy's thanksgiving parade.
Hot/melting circuitry and any neo geo game (go ahead, sniff your aes cartrige).
Mega Man games and Sunday afternoons.
Castlevania 3 and rotten meat smell. Somehow trash leaked on the carpet where a sat to play NES, so for the entire time I first played through Castlevania 3, that nasty rotten meat smell....
