The topic of tech demo reminds me of this one for the N64 by Marshall just published a few days ago. This shows his new N64 flash cart called 64Drive that will be going into production soon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYnJmnKt ... ture=feedu

It shows the flash cart itself, how to use it, and a few N64 homebrew tech demos running on it. Neat stuff.

People should keep in mind that someone who makes a nomination in this thread doesn't mean that he/she hate the system. They're just picking the least favorite system that they own. I don't like Dreamcast as much as my other systems but I still like it for Typing of the Dead, Skies of Arcadia, etc.

I mean it didn't get far, so I understand on that front, but it has some very fun games. I think the system's biggest problem was simply untapped potential, and we all know why that happened.

Also, Tempo is fucking brilliant. Anyone who doesn't like Tempo is not my friend anymore.

And by the way, the 32x was not graphically "on the level" of the SNES. It was above it. Come on.

Nicely stated. I can look at the 32X and easily see the best 16-bit era versions of these excellent arcade games:

After Burner
Space Harrier
Virtua Fighter
Virtua Racing
Mortal Kombat II
Primal Rage
NBA Jam TE
Star Wars Arcade (exclusive)

In addition, there are good number of non-arcade ports of quality games for the system that were the best 16-bit versions of their day:

Doom
Blackthorne
World Series Baseball
Pitfall The Mayan Adventure
Night Trap

And of course, some of the exclusives worth checking out:

Tempo
Knuckles Chaotix
Kolibri
Shadow Squadron
Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000

That is a little over half the system's library, and really no chaff in that wheat. Do some of the other titles suck? Yes. Others are very much hit and miss, depending on your preference. But I'd can't think of another console (or add-on) with such a high percentage of its library being worth playing.

Good posting. Reading through page 6, was just going to post the same thing around MK II and NBA Jam TE. I also own Virtua Fighter and Virtua Racing and for their time - they were cool and I put some time in on them. Admittedly, I don't know anything about Tempo - will have to look into that one.

World Series Baseball '95 for the 32x is a toughie on ebay. I've seen two go for $50 and $35 complete recently.

Interestingly enough, the Genesis series would continue on for two more years. Lot of people overlook that Sega was still putting out 2D sports games through 1997 (with '98 names in the title) on the Genesis. I enjoy those now (like NBA Live '98) considerably more than their 3D counterparts on the Saturn or PS1.

That was your Retro Sports Game Recap of the day

Ps3 or Xbox 360.

Technically I like the Xbox a lot more but my ps3 hasn't broken three times so it's a toss up.

Those are all good games, sure. But can you call even one of those games a "killer app"? I don't think so. Knuckles Chaotix might be arguable, but it still wasn't as good as the Genesis Sonic games. And a lot of the rest of them that are actually good are available on other systems. 32X was a flop.

Blackthorne on 32X has an additional level unlike the Snes version.
Space Harrier on the 32X is debatably one of the best home ports.
Doom 32X is awesome.
And Virtua Fighter and Virtua Racing hold their own as well.

Yes, the 32X was a flop commercially but it still has its merits. Much like the Virtual Boy.

It may be a flop to you but to many it grants another way to expand the Genesis' capabilities.

No, but I do think that they are some of the best versions of some of the best games of the 16-bit era.

I agree, it isn't my fave by a long shot but a lot of people like it.

And a lot of the rest of them that are actually good are available on other systems.

Yes, that's why I said "port". The BEST version of these games is on the 32X.

32X was a flop.

This isn't being contested. Whether it is a "worst system" is. Considering more than half of the library is made up of solid titles, that's a tough case to make.

I just recently learned that the 32X enhances Genesis games thanks to a thread on here recently. So I'm somewhat interested in getting one now, because of that. But still, it's not a gem of a system by any means was my point. I definetly feel it deserves to be in this thread.

It doesn't enhance Genesis games.
