no I'm not. I'm judging him as a comedic character. I don't think adding "fuckin" to a sentence instantly turns it into a joke.
And that is a valid point as Rolfe isn't the AVGN. It's a characterization of a nerds frustration...or at least it was. The very first episodes I still find funny, as it wasn't "remember this shitty game?" but was more "remember this game from your childhood that you loved and hated at the same time?". I would expect more reviews of games like Blaster Master (which is incredible, and incredibly unforgiving) then games like Bible Adventures.

Keeping that in mind, he seems happy, and he provided me with a few laughs and his reviews of cinematography are pretty awesome...but I would regretfully agree that in the past few years, the avgn does suck. But as a few people pointed out, look at his fanbase. He's just giving the kids what they want, a lot of shitty games and bad language.

As far as the irate gamer guy; he's a pathetic unoriginal hack that steals material more than Mad TV did.

how old are you? I'm genuinely curious if this matters in the equation.
I don't find his videos funny either. I try really hard to watch all of them though.
Thanks everyone...

I've never really watched many of his videos. Maybe I'd seen one or two years ago. Anyways, I went ahead and watched the Ninja Gaiden video that was uploaded last week. I thought it was really well done. Yes, he did say "fuck" but at the same time, one, its part of his character, and two, a lot of those looked like "fuck" worthy situations. I've never really followed any kind of video reviewers, but watching that video it was both entertaining and informative.

I think Rolfe is genuinely a talented guy; he's been to school for film making and he's doing what he loves. He seems down to earth and honest also. Watching his Q&A sessions at game shows, he comes off humbled by the attention (and possibly scared of the audience).

I've watched his videos - I think my favorite is the 3DO choose your own adventure-like game. Hilarious.

Some of them are, but after a while I stopped watching them aswell. The Neogeo video was brilliant though.

I started watching review videos after I found the ones by James Rolf. I think some of them are funny some are not but it did make me look for more reviewers. I really enjoy watching good reviews like the ones by Roo from Clan of the Gray Wolf.
Thanks everyone...

while we're on the subject of gaming videos, I have a question. Why are "unboxing" videos even a thing?

I don't know why people watch these. I do enjoy the ones for collectors editions, since you can see the additional content. But just regular ones showing you the cart and the manual are meh.
