And please don't go there dude. MGS is hardly guilty compared to many other franchises out there nowadays. Sure it has a few spinoffs here and there, but it's not like Kojima had much to do with Portable Ops or the Acid games. As for the main entries, they're only up to 4. Not 14, like Final Fantasy, or 8 like Call of Duty which fucking started in 2003. Now those and plenty other franchises are for more guilty of being milked than the MGS franchise. I'm happy that MGS is a large franchise and I'm happy that they take their time on the main games, the quality and polish always shows compared to other games that are being pooped out on a yearly basis this gen.People complain about sequelitis all the time and MGS is a perfect example of that
MGS and ZotE HD remakes coming...

I don't know why your getting so offended here. I don't think anyone here is trying to tick you off or whatever, as BoringSupreez said the ZOE series itself is small (I mean hey does anyone here even know there's an anime movie and TV series? and they're not bad) but MGS has been around for a lot longer, so it's just kind of natural there's going to be more random discussions going on about those games.

Right, cause it's not like we'll ever see the MGS series reach those high numbers as well, except we'll probably start giving them different names like Peace Walker. MGS is just like ever other big franchise out there and I'm sure games like Portable Ops need Kojima's approval. There's no difference between MGS and those other franchisesXeogred wrote:I don't know why your getting so offended here. and I didn't say anyone offended me or was trying to tick me off, it's not like I personally called out anyone in this thread.

I think another reason people seem to know MGS better is because the first Metal Gear on the MSX was the first game Kojima really got well known for.
I remember back when G4 was great, they had that show called Icons. One episode focused solely on Kojima's rise to fame, about how he was an outcast at work, who had a hard time programming, to releasing Metal Gear, a game that went in the complete opposite direction from other games at the time, and defied all odds.
Metal Gear had a bigger impact on Kojima's career than ZOE did. While both are great series, MGS has bigger releases and better marketing. ZOE on the other hand, didn't have much of the boom that MGS had, leading it more to be a niche franchise.
That's what I feel anyway.

So would you guys say ZOE1 is totally skippable? I have it, never played it though. Everything I've heard in this thread says that ZOE1 is pretty bad but ZOE2 is awesome. I know a few people personally that have said the same thing.

Yeah, I can't disagree with that, but Kojima can contribute some great ideas to other projects and the ZOE series is proof of that. I just kind of wish he could move on and stop coming back to MGS over and over again. Did we really even need four games? Couldn't he finish his story in three? Do we really need Peace Walker? Or Acid? Or Portable Ops?Veno wrote:I think another reason people seem to know MGS better is because the first Metal Gear on the MSX was the first game Kojima really got well known for.

Would just like to see his creative juices on something else with the same amount of fervor and big budget backing. He once asked if people would be interested in a ZOE 3, but it seems all people care about is MGS. I think the MGS series actually holds him back. I saw some great potential for killer action titles from him in ZOE 2, not to mention some of the other crazy stuff he has explored like Boktai. Didn't Itagaki himself once say he was impressed with ZOE 2.

It won't kill you to get through it, it's actually a pretty decent game. But compared to the second one, it kinda sucks.brunoafh wrote:So would you guys say ZOE1 is totally skippable? Actually, I think people have been wanting a ZOE3 for a while now. It's not that people care for MGS over it, it's that Kojima decided to work on MGS first, then come back to the ZOE series later. I'm pretty sure I read a statement from Kojima saying he'll come back to it.Gamerforlife wrote:

Re: MGS and ZotE HD remakes coming...
Yeah, but that doesn't seem to be anytime soon. I really see Peace Walker as MGS 5, which was apparently its original working title. Not a coincidence either that its development team was as big as the one for MGS 4, or that it's being included in the upcoming MGS collection for the PS 3. I wouldn't be surprised to still be seeing MGS games in five years from now as long as Konami sees money in it while any hope for a ZOE 3, or any other original project from Hideo for that matter, becomes a less and less likelyVeno wrote:Actually, I think people have been wanting a ZOE3 for a while now. Course I guess I'm just being cynical

What exactly, is your gripe with MGS?
