No way. Why should he (or anyone) have to cater to the demands of the extreme fringe? That just validates bullshit and encourages entitlement. I'm glad he did it but ultimately the when / where was his call.

Folks, even if you are elected into office there is still a strict scrutiny of your character by national security personnel to make sure you can legitimately hold the position.

"Character" isn't one of the requirements to be president. All you need is to be a natural born citizen, a permanent resident, over 35, and get duly elected. Although, sometimes they cheat on that last bit.
