This show is utter crap. Against my better judgment I tried watching one of the recommended episodes and couldn't make it past five minutes. If you are a seven year old girl I am sure it's great. If you are not, I can't see the appeal.

My guess: Japanaphiles like the new anime style eyes and feel compelled to like the show.

Well, to each his own. At least you tried it. I respect your opinion, but don't agree with it. One thing, though; did you really have to say it so insultingly? It seems awfully rude to me. Oh, well. You can go back to playing your FPSs, and I will be watching ponies. And all the hate in the world won't change that.

But really, just 5 minutes? No one would like a show after just 5 minutes! That is an awfully strong opinion to make after only viewing the show for under 300 seconds.

I can understand it. If those 5 minutes were making him cringe, regardless of how good the rest of the episode would be that seems reasonable to exclude the show, given that there are other things where the whole duration does not make him cringe.

Personally, there are some bits of the show that are relatively cliché and appear to be aimed at (in dsheinem's words) seven year old girls.

The part with the Benny Hill chase (with suitably inspired music) was still golden, of course

I've noticed that people (and I mean people who are not 5 and female) are suddenly fans of My Little Pony. What is with this? Since when do adults watch that show? I saw half an episode 5 years ago, and it was unbelievably lame. It boggles the mind that so many love this series now.

Personally I find the love for the show to be a bit strange. I understand that the characters are unique, the animation is above average, and altogether it's a fairly competent and well put together show.

That doesn't change the fact that the target demographic is that of young girls. Maybe there is action and humor and etc etc, but the fact remains, most of the people watching this are not who the show is designed for.

The fact that there is some adult humor in the show is nice. I'm sure it's nice when a dad is watching television with his little girl and he enjoys the show as well. The problem with that is that most of the people who post in the threads and defend the show are not watching the show with their children. The are effectively grown men going out of their way to download and watch the show. I would also place money that this show isn't the worst of the things you watch. If this is "good" then certainly you are watching something that is worse but it's easier to justify because the other show is more "manly".

It's immature and a bit strange to me. But hey, to each his own.
