I'm very eagerly awaiting this too. I just started playing through the PSP version of FF I again last night. The difficulty level has been decreased to an almost unbelievably low level, but it looks so damn gorgeous and the remixed soundtrack is awesome.

I just picked this up and I'm enjoying it although it is easy. (It's probably the easiest FF game I've played.) How long does it take to beat? I want to beat it before IV comes out...

It can be beat in just a few hours if you know what you're doing already (but I guess that can be said about a lot of games). You'll definitely finish it before the 19th though. It's one of the shortest RPGs I've ever played, but I find that actually adds to the value it has. Makes multiple runs and experimentation much more feasible.

I was playing the GBA version, but didn't finish it and I may just wait to get this version if I have to play FFIV again.
You can play them in any order you wish. They each have their own sub-menu for starting and loading a game.

Word! I'll have to get it soon. Seems cheaper and easier than getting all the After Years episodes on WiiWare. In the meantime I'll play my GBA version :D I'm having tons of fun with it, especially on the Game Boy Player!
