Carolinas Area Racket Meetup - Animazement 2010 May27th-30th
Re: Carolinas Area Racket Meetup - Animazement 2010 May27th-30th
I am so out of the loop on this. Where exactly in Raleigh is this being held (sorry if I've already asked this)?

I'm not usually one to complain (except in the ticked thread) but that website is just an awful representation of anything good. You'd think it would mention on its HUGE banner where in Raleigh it is being held. That, or I missed it.
So I live about 90 minutes of a drive to Raleigh, and I won't say 100% I'll go; but it does seem a possibility I can attend. I'd appreciate if people do a few rain dances on Thursday because I would LOVE an excuse to not work in the yard all weekend.
So this looks like a free event but accepts donations; is this a correct assumption?
Is there a way to recognize you guys, such as everyone wears a certain color?
Does it rain in France?
Sorry for all the questions, and I have read some of the updates but not all of them. What would be super ultra konami killer would be for someone to tell me:
Where? Completed. Thanks Mod_Man.
Ticket cost prices? Follow up.
Are we meeting in a designated area? (If there is a food court with a cookie stand, that should be the place). Follow up.
Is there a time we plan on meeting all together? Follow up.
Should I bring anything? Follow up.
This doesn't seem like a video game focused event, but seems to incorporate games instead. Is this interpretation correct? Follow up.
And last but not least: Is this con going to be full of uninteresting weirdos? I'm all good for interesting weirdos, but I'm wondering if I bring my wife will she be all "Ew. I want outta here". -----My wife wouldn't say "outta here", but I'm working on that. Follow up.
edit* $5.00 for pictures and autographs from/with me. Hey, this hair cut doesn't pay for itself. And no licking of my wife's left or right boobs...That'll cost ya extra.

If any of the retro heads wanted to know, we will have at least three 20" CRT's running NES, Genesis and Duo plus a 2600. These are Sony PVM's...none of the BS we had last year. I had to go RF on the Atari, I'll go 25" but the back up is 13" in case I run out of room in the truck. Warlords, bitches!
The retro high score challenge is as follows:
Friday: Donkey Kong (Arcade)
Friday night (5-9 PM): Lords of Thunder (TurboGrafx)
Saturday: Donkey Kong II (homebrew Arcade)
Saturday night (5-9 PM): Devil's Crush (TurboGrafx)
All Weekend: Super Mario Bros. (NES)
SOOOOOOOO Close!!!

I think the game room is the best place, I'll be there all weekend, so just ask for Tony (or find the drunk mofo running tourneys).
Luke wrote:Ticket cost prices?

Adult Weekend (13+) $55
Child Weekend (6 to 13) $30
Friday $30
Saturday $40
Sunday $25

It is Japanese anime con but the game room is boss.

Hmm...anyone? I'd say the only thing "uninteresting" is the fact there are a lot of kids. Me being older now after doing this for 15 years, I see more and more younger kids...I dunno, have I gotten older?!

Your girl can always shop at Crabtree! But if you're not staying the night, you do miss out on a lot of hijinks.

Now you've piqued my interest.

Alcohol, hotubs, 4am close times, alcohol, room parties, people dressed up in costumes, late night hot dog vendors, random Para Para, downtown Raleigh, Gal Panic S, fire alarms, 3-day weekend, alcohol...of course I'm too old for such maddess. Hell, I have to open a game room at 10am every day. (<- and I do, hangover or real bad hangover)

Just watch out for those really socially awkward people who just follow you and talk forever about the stupidest shit as if it's Pulitzer worthy. Maybe it's just me, but I somehow always have to deal with at least one of these people when I go to any convention.

Keep in mind this means some good costumes, some bad costumes, craploads of people dressed as whatever series is popular right now to the point where you roll your eyes (previously as DBZ, Naruto, or Sailor Moon), and unfortunately many young girls and overweight people that maybe shouldn't be wearing that outfit. Not to be downing the costume thing or people that are comfortable with their bodies, just what to expect in that department.
