Also a good game to play on short trips: Catrap
(There was suplexing in Mole Mania??)
Catrap and Mole Mania are both wonderful. But my favorite um "action platformer" on the system is Bubble Ghost. Absolutely no contest. It's amazing. I'd also HIGHLY recommend Kwirk. Or rather I do/have highly recommended it.
Kwirk... that was the rotating block puzzle thing (like
Daedalus Opus) and not the "shade x% of the screen right? (That might have been Qix.)
I heard a lot of praise for Bubble Ghost, but it looks very... strange. I much prefer something straight-forward like
Avenging Spirit (not related to Dick Tracey).

Almost impossible to pick.
Overall would probably be Link's Awakening. My "I'm cool" choice would be Mario Picross.

Kwirk is nothing like Daedalian Opus. In Kwirk you play a tomato with arms and legs who must push/pull boxes etc to find your way out of a room.
Daedalian Opus is basically just tangrams.
Bubble Ghost is amazing though. Every GB fan should give it a try.

I second Bubble Ghost. Amazingly fun, very easy to pick up and play. Kept me coming back for a while.

Ah I see where I got confused. Loaded a YouTube clip of Kwirk and saw the oddly shaped blocks being pushed. I also remembered why I never beat that ga-- *spasms*

All of my picks are gonna be pretty cliched. I was never a big portable console gamer until years after the original Game Boy saw it's heydey. So I'm buying Game Boy games through the lens of history:
-Bionic Commando
-Dig Dug
-The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
-Mega Man Games
-Super Mario Land
-Super Mario Land 2: The Six Golden Coins
-Tetris

The one where you're Mario, like the classic, but you go through a city, jungle, ship, desert, etc.
Good game back in the day, along with the rest mentioned.
DK94. It's amazing.
I cannot stress Donkey Kong 94 enough, the gameplay and platforming are nothing short of brilliant.

yes, this is really good.
The Castlevania series
I have them all, and though I'm nostalgic about Adventure I don't think any of them are great. They're good. But... Even Legend which everyone says is the best of the three isn't spectacular. It's just better than the first two.
