Well shit. Guess I can't say I didn't see it coming, the DSi and DSiXL were region-protected. Dammit, when will this shit just go away?

So because of that, I'm still hopeful they're not gonna screw us for easy importing.

Actually, they can region lock DS games on DSi. Apparently Pokemon Black and White won't work on foreign DSi systems (although threy work find on foreign DS phat and lite). I don't know of any other games that do this though.
Still, I am kinda sad about this news. It means that some great games that inevitably won't reach here are gonna be really awkward to play. I dont mind waiting for games, but I do hate missing them altogether.
Anyhow, I'm hoping forna better launch line up for the US and Europe, but I'm highly doubtful it'll be any different. At the minute I'll probably be getting street fighter, but tbh, i dont especially want it. I wish Paper Mario or Pilot Wings or starfox or zelda or anything good and first party would be coming out.
I have nothing against Nintendogs, but seriously, early adopters of consoles are far more likely to be 'hardcore' gamers than young children and 'casual' gamers (hate those terms btw). I'm surprised starfox isnt due out for so long, considering it was one of the few playable games when it was shown back at E3.

I only know of the DSiware being region coded, my DSiXL runs my imported games fine. Maybe it is because I dont update my XL. I heard rumors that Pokemon Black/White were coded, but I dont know anyone with them (I started Heart Gold on Saturday - show how up to date I am).
