OPL with a different GUI.
Wii Key - Gamecube SD Gecko - PS2 HDAdvance/HDloader Guide
Updated the OP
I expanded on additional features of utilizing a SD Memory Card Gecko setup on the Gamecube. Note that the Wii can also work with the Gecko arrangement. The Wii can be a little more tricky to maintain due to Nintendo continual mandated updates to keep current Wii games working online.
I cleaned up the sections in the OP for an easier read. Enjoy and happy SD Card gaming!
1. Gamecube Memory card to SD Card backup
2. Emulation on the Gamecube using a SD Card

Wii Key Inside View
In case one is concerned about the quality of a Wii Key or Gecko card, there really is not much inside. Its just a simple matter of aligning traces between the two types of contacts.

I recently bought three Wii Keys from Hong Kong, all work fine. You can build one pretty easily, but they are inexpensive from some sellers.Scorpei wrote:http://ngc.scorpei.com/GUIDE-SD_adapter.html

Re: Wii Key - Gamecube SD Gecko - PS2 HDAdvance/HDloader Gui
I was thinking this would be a good place to ask instead of making a thread, anyways my problem is that I am trying to get HDL_Dump/Dumb to work but I cant find any decent tutorials anywhere and when i do it says i need to connect the HDD to the pc with a cable or use CDGENPS2 to make a homebrew cd, now i know I am supposed to have hdld_svr.elf on my ps2.
TL;DR: I want to know how to set up HDL_Dump/Dumb without using a usb-ide connector or using cdr homebrew discs to load files.
EDIT: Also I'm a noobie and im horrible at ps2 homebrew, i just want to send my backups through my connection but it can be complicated also if people who know what they're doing pm me thatd help as well

All in the Guide, take time and read the entire second Reply, has pics that helps.
CRTGAMER wrote:Attach the PS2 to your PC with a Cat 6 crossover cable. Run HDAdvance 3.0 while holding any controller button in port one to go to Ethernet mode.
Troublesome CD games such as Half Life that won't install thru HDAdvance can also be installed by the PC backed up ISO method.
In the PC, go to Control Panel\Networks
Set the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
IP Address - 192.168.1.111
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - leave blank
If the IP Address doesn't work, try changing the last 3 digit number to 110 or 112.
Run HDLDUMB in your PC. Transfer your DVD-9 ISO files to your PS2 Hard Drive. Or you can use WINHIIP if you want to temporarily connect the PS2 drive inside your PC as a D drive. There has been problems going this route in getting the PC to recognize the PS2 formatted drive.

I don't have HD Advance but i have been using hdld.svr for hdl_dumb and whenever i connect my PC to my PS2 i use the IP hdld.svr says to use which is 192.168.0.10 and i get a new connection which states which Ethernet cable i'm using and when i try hdl dumb it says "No Connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".
Connections that pop up when i plug my ethernet cable into my Ps2 and computer (local area connection):

No not 2.0, only HDAdvance 3.0 has the Ethernet features. As far as other types of HDLoaders, there are some that should work with the ethernet cable method, I always use and have very good results with HDAdvance 3.0. Afterwards I use 2.0 to boot the hard drive menu, problem games get HDLoader which is one of the "Games" in the HDAdvance menu.jod5000 wrote:Does network mode work on HDAdvance version 2?
Just wondering, is there any other way to set up a network connection besides using the HD Advance way? because i almost had HDL Dumb/p working with the hdld_serv.elf but then it just messed up.
Go with the settings in the OP and make sure the Ethernet cable is a CROSSOVER CABLE. The other option is a direct install or the temporary swap to the PC IDE hard drive bay.jod5000 wrote:I don't have HD Advance but i have been using hdld.svr for hdl_dumb and whenever i connect my PC to my PS2 i use the IP hdld.svr says to use which is 192.168.0.10 and i get a new connection which states which Ethernet cable i'm using and when i try hdl dumb it says "No Connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".

Re: Wii Key - Gamecube SD Gecko - PS2 HDAdvance/HDloader Gui
Finally got back my old, fat PS2 (with the original network adapter that came with FFXI) and am excited to fire her up again. I ended up creating a FMCB memory card, but sadly, it is not compatible with my console's model, SCHP-3000 - both the 3000 and 9000 series aren't compatible with Free Mcboot from what I've read, maybe we should mention that in the guide?
Since I can't find any HDAdvance disc commercially, I've decided to go the flip-top/Swap Magic route, so I've also placed orders on: a 200gb Maxtor IDE, IDE to USB adapter,Magic 3 Plus , and a flip-top). I plan on using the the Swap Magic disc to load uLaunchElf (from a CD-R), and then from there launch HDLoader, USB Advance, OpenPS2Loader, and the like.
Do you guy think this a viable option for my model? It my not be as streamlined as loading a HDAdvance disc (which I can't find) or fire up from FMCB (which I can't), but I figured a three-step process shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
