And the fact that it ran too fast pretty much made it harder to beat the computer.

Yup, though the slightly increased speed did kinda give it a kinda cool feel...

The CPU in MK games have always been cheating evil bastards anyway.

Like in the SNES version (IIRC) if you were spamming a projectile against your opponent long enough they would start to slide under it and across the screen.

In an older revision of the arcade game, the CPU will ALWAYS throw you when you try and throw them. Even when it should be completely impossible, like when they're frozen.

They'll even do it when FINISH HIM pops up, and if your own life is low enough that the throw depletes it, they actually win the round.

so I'm slightly confused by this thread. Is it Arcade Kollection that's getting patched soon? I for one would love to play some MK games in the future for PS3 Budget Fight Club, but I know there's a stigma about severe bugs and bad netcode.

Yes. Nobody knows exactly when though, at least nobody knew last time I checked.

so how bad is Kollection then?

And what is it for that matter? Is it basically UMK3 with online? Isn't there also PSN versions of MK1 & II? Do those have netcode as well? How are those? And how big are the lobbies on all these variations?

/buncha questions.

Haven't actually bought it myself but...

It's MK1, MK2, and UMK3. The netcode from what I hear is really really bad, like tons of input lag that renders the games virtually unplayable. Even offline though, the games all have various weird bugs.

I'll consider buying it when the patch comes out if it really fixes things. Wouldn't mind playing some MK against people on here myself, even if I get my ass kicked.

Europe got the patch when MK: Arcade Kollection was recently released there. But the patch hasn't been released via XBLA or PSN yet. Nobody knows why and Ed Boon hasn't said a word about it. So I'm thinking the shit isn't going to be released and fixed... ever! Probably because it exceeds the 6MB patch limit - my guess. :(
