KoF '99 is a pretty interesting choice man!! That game was universally hated by most KoF fans (especially following '98), what drew you '99 in particular? (Originally, that is.)

More people need to know about Breakers Revenge dammit! I must spread the word, one of my favorite just pick up and play fighters. It's simple yet not overly simple, It feels like a more fluid street fighter 2

It was the first KOF game I played for any extended time. I liked the striker system (which is somewhat like Vs series tag system, but instead character jump in to perform attacks). Dream Match was a pretty hard title to follow. It just happened to be the first KOF game that I played enough to make me think something other than Capcom fighters were worth playing. I do with it had more unlockable characters (outside of the strikers who you can't play as).

The dream match games in the series are generally the ones people go ape shit over.

I feel similar to it as I do to KOF XII, it is a really good fighting engine that for some reason just falls short, still wicked fun to play but just lacks that 'something' for whatever reason.

My buddy that I use to play fighters with moved away and I only tend to play Capcom fighters when I find the time, however with the Neo Geo X I picked up and being able to play any Neo Geo rom on it, I am looking forward to digging into some SNK fighters.

Has anyone here played Ninja Masters? It is surprisingly good.

#5: Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 - One of the best single player modes I've ever seen in a fighter.
#4: Rival Schools: United by Fate - To this day I never get tired of this game
#3: King of Fighters '98 - I've dabbled with all the KoF's; This one just feels perfect.
#2: Street Fighter Alpha 3 - In my opinion, the peak of the franchise.
#1: Capcom vs SNK 2 - One of the best balanced games I've ever played; Unlimited ways to play.

#4 Rival Schools: United by Fate

What I see is my taste being refined.

Since 2010, I've gotten the chance to play some games that turned out to be very influential for me. Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Rival Schools 2 were games that, once I experienced them, defined a part of my gaming personality.

When I made this thread four years ago I was dabbling hardcore in SNK and I think that love affair largely ended - having tried almost all of the KoF, AoF, and Fatal Fury games I think the lack of consistent quality wore on me - ironically, it's Match of the Millennium that has become my SNK standard bearer.
