What's with the sexism and homophobia lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

No. Because if somebody posts a message and it gets deleted, edited or they receive a warning from a Mod then that is an act of censorship.

Also, you have to keep in mind that not everybody has the same idea of what is "tasteful" or not.

There's a difference between the words "censure" and "censor", you realize.

Eh? Sure it does.

To censure is to take an alternative to greater measures against an issue, whereas censoring is to get directly involved in a matter. In this case Dsheinem is saying that he would like to bring an issue within the community to light (censuring), rather than taking invasive actions to resolve said issue (censoring).

But Dsheinem is a Mod, correct? If you can read between the lines, this is most likely a warning more than it is simply crying. And when you're in a position like he is and you start trying to tell people what they do or do not want to hear/say.. then that is a form on censorship. Because you're trying to censor them by implying that there could be penalties down the road. Even if he hasn't said this himself in those exact words. It's implied due to his status.

If a teacher complains to their class and says "I don't want to hear anymore swear words." It's implied that there could be repercussions if you decide to swear. This is no different

There might be a difference between the two words. But I can assure you that it's a very thin line

Agreed. While censuring and censoring are two conceptually distinct things, the lines between censuring and censoring are often blurred in practice, as Weekend_Warrior points out. I'm also certain that Weekend_Warrior understood the difference between the meaning "censure" and "censor" without needing anyone on this forum to explain it to him.

That said, however, I couldn't care less what the mods do or don't do about this. This is a privately maintained forum, and in return for the privilege of using said forum, we're obligated to the terms of service.

Eh, this is speculation. At this point though, I feel that Dsheinem should interpret himself, as I dislike putting words in people's mouths.

Dsheinem, has already stated that he is not an advocate for deleting this stuff, which is why he made a thread instead deleting posts. If he wanted to delete instances of it, it's already within his power. Like he said, censure vs censor. That's why we're all having this little discussion about this topic. And it's a topic that I think is worth discussing and I believe the gaming community in general needs to do a little self reflection about this, because you hear this sort of stuff all the time in online gaming.

I think the repurcussions of using that kind of language on racketboy are not that people are going to delete you, but they may not think so highly of you. Obviously a lot of people here don't like it, myself included. And though I agree that post count doesn't make anyone's opinion more or less valid, it does serve as a sort of index for who is invested in this online community and who contributes the most to it (assuming a fair portion of those posts were worthwhile). I therefore think we should at least be a bit concerned about not alienating those that make a substantial contribution to making this site great. This site doesn't need anymore melodramatic "I'm leaving!" threads.
My contributions to the Racketboy site:
Browser Games ... Free PC Games ... Mixtapes ... Doujin Games ... SotC Poetry

I think the best course of action is to put in the rules that bigoted comments such as "faggot" or "nigger" are not allowed. When someone uses a bigoted term, they'll have their message edited with a message on the bottom. Something along the lines of:
We do not condone of bigoted language on Racketboy. If this happens again, I'll have to (insert punishment here.
Afterward, if the member repeats the offense, then the mod(s) come in and censor/suspend/ban/whatever the mods agree upon.
