Re: Sega or Nintendo?
Um... when did I ever say I wanted to argue which was more successful? I didn't flip the argument around in any way, I wasn't even involved when this conversation somehow devolved into which company was more successful. I noticed that someone was calling one company inferior in a thread about personal preference on the basis of the collective's preference. There was no argument-flipping involved, I maintained the same subject matter and perspective throughout. And just so you know, I was actually really calm. I wasn't sitting here with a vein popping out of my forehead or anything, it's just that I'm a very emotive writer, even when I'm not really feeling any strong emotion when I'm writing it. I thought I handled it in a perfectly civil manner, it's just that I have a tendency to passively swear (which I try to repress a little on these forums) and I'm incredibly long-winded, which makes me appear to be much more engulfed and passionate on topics such as this than I really am. I felt I made a good point, so I continued to explore it. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.
Still though, I have to wonder how you got the impression that I had "flipped the argument"?

The quality of the games on other consoles is not the issue, it's what worked for the general public.
The original post asked the question "which one floats your boat?". If you want to know, which one made the most money, there is a right answer to that and no need to debate.

Ack, I was being perfectly reasonable. I was trying to clear up any bad blood or miscommunications. How did you interpret that last message as hostile in any way?
Re: Sega or Nintendo?
At this point I'm wondering why we're still talking about this. Folks opinions have been established, now there's arguments over semantics and what people were implying with their messages, and just after one side gets done, the other retorts with a paragraph or two in response.
It's over. The fat lady is singing. Move along folks, there's nothing to see here.

I didn't delve into semantics because I was trying to prove him wrong, I did it out of curiosity. I didn't understand how he came to a certain conclusion based on what I said, so I asked him how he came to that conclusion. If it bothers you that we're discussing semantics, then don't worry yourself with it. You don't have to be obnoxious and try and make us feel stupid for trying to understand where one another are coming from; sorry it bothers you that the conversation went deeper than the commonplace "I like Sega/I like Nintendo". But since you seem so intent to make certain that I stop communicating, I suppose I'll be kind enough to humor you.
