Was this your first Yakuza?

Yeah I think in 3-4 to get the platinum you have to perfect all the minigames, things that are pure luck based, and crazy stuff like mahjong, etc haha... F that.

A lot of the completion points I still need are the minigame points, and as much as I like some of these minigames I'm not hard up on trying to "complete" them.
I didn't really go into Yakuza 1 or 2 intending to platinum them either, but I always do damn near everything possible in them. I must be just as crazy, Xeo  . I've never actually gotten the platinum for either though. The platinum, while involving getting perfects or damn near on every mini-game and completing the most time-intensive side-quests (some of which you can very easily irreversibly fuck-up if you aren't paying attention, like getting all of the locker keys in 1, or trying all the food items or completing the Caberet Club side quest in 2), also involves absolutely mastering the combat on some level, usually by either having to defeat the immensely hard arena, or making you beat the ENTIRE GAME AGAIN on the even harder difficulty you unlock after beating it on the first hardest difficulty *glares at Yakuza 2*.

This was my first Yakuza, won't be the last though. I already have Kiwami sitting on the shelf waiting on me.

Yeah there's one minigame in particular that is basically just rock paper scissors and you need to win so much yen at it to get the cp for it. I can't even win a little bit from it
Then there is the mahjong like you stated, I'm struggling to understand the rules and the computer takes my money. So yeah I won't be perfecting this game but close enough for me.

With my unemployment not going away anytime soon, I decided to add a new day to my gaming routine. I will be going back and finishing up games I haven't played in years.

To start, I will be playing one of my favorites games of all time: Final Fantasy X.

And on Friday, I finally finished the Butterfly Side-Quest. I finally got all of Kimahri's Ultimate Weapon. All I need is Tidus with the Chocobo Racing, Lulu with the Lightning Dodging and then to break the Sphere Grid and beat the Monster Arena.

It feels so wonderful to be playing Final Fantasy X again!

Yoshi's Woolly World

I like it so far. Only in World 2 though.

Can someone tell me what's up with those scribbly drawings displayed while levels load? Are those fan-made or something? I saw one that said "FUCK" in it!

That's Miiverse. Nintendo's shutting it down soon; so enjoy it while you can!

Presumably they're shutting it down because they figured out that Bone saw that "FUCK," forever tainting his innocence!

Virtual cop: rebirth is absolutely amazing and I love it a lot. It's a shame we didn't get a version of it in the states.

I do not seem to be really motivated to play Phantasy Star IV, for some reason. It's a good game, but I just don't always have a real urge to continue playing it. Certainly, it's nice to see a Phantasy Star game on the Genesis that actually figured out how to not constantly punish the player for even thinking about playing it. I'm willing to blame two things at this juncture: The music in PSIV doesn't do a whole lot for me, and while it's not bad by any means, it doesn't really enhance my playing experience, either; The story beats have been pretty predictable so far.

I like that PSIV took a little time to sort out the sequence of events between the original game, and itself (although I feel like it retcon-ed one or two things). I've actually gained a little bit more of an appreciation for PSII, from playing PSIV so far, as well; It's really not so bad, aside from the god forsaken dungeons. Playing PSIV also makes me think a bit more about playing PSO, than continuing with what It's doing--it almost feels like I'm cheating on it with another game. (Due in large part to the inclusion of Hunter's Guild missions, I'm sure.)

At any rate, I feel like PSIV gets most things right, but I'm not really convinced at this point that it really separates itself from some of the best (read: my favorite) RPGs of the generation. Probably better than CT, or FFVI, but that's a relatively low bar, in my opinion.
