JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI
When and where you can see it.
You don't have to be an Itamae or even interested in sushi to fall in love with this movie (but you will be hungry for sushi afterward). Jiro, as indicated in the trailer, is an 85 year old Itamae who is considered a national treasure, whose children, even at the ages of over 50, have a lot to live up to. This movie documents just that, and almost perfectly.
Yes there is a lot of food prep in the movie, but at the heart of it all it's a story about Jiro and his relationship with his sons. It's quite lovely, I would recommend this highly.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I saw the Hunger Games last night.
Now, I haven't read the book, but even then there are glaring oversights in relationship development between certain characters. Catniss and Rue? They hadn't even talked but for a few sentences. Others oversights are also there.
Otherwise, the movie was great. I saw it "with the guys", so they weren't as happy with it as I was, but I liked it. Dark hair and green eyes add to it, but the story made me feel for Catniss. Hell, if I didn't know better, I could even go as far as to say I had a bit of a crush.
I was also odded out a bit at Woody Harrelson being on there. Something about his hair made it hard to take him seriously.

It isn't awful, but I still say it looks better on paper.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
A problem I'm having now is wanting to read the books. I know for a fact that, in the case of Harry Potter, I liked the movies more. Sure, the books are good. Something about the magic of the movies do a lot of work for me. I dunno. RECENT books that get turned into movies/TV are more appealing to me on the screen. I dunno. If there was a hunger games comic, on the other hand...Luke wrote:Forlorn Drifter wrote:I saw the Hunger Games last night.

Attack the Block showed up on stars today.
It was fun. The design of the creatures was its strongest quality. Glad they didn't overdo it with them in the trailer. I did expect it to be more of a comedy. It had its funny moments, whatshisface from all those Simon Pegg movies was underused. Overall it had the expected story arch and delivered on the violence.
