I'd like to have it so that games play like they do on consoles without having to really install anything(yes now we've got those stupid updates because of broken or incomplete games).
Console games install now too, more due to that discs are too slow. Updates aren't a bad thing either - games from all eras have bugs. Modern games can at least get fixed.
I can never really come over if that doesn't happen and is why I'll probably keep missing out on great pc only games. It's just not worth it. Physical media lasts longer than most consoles and computers do, and it's hard to justify an expansive backup system if you want a ton of games on there with how expensive 1tb and up is especially if you're broke and don't want the lowest quality junk just to make due.....
Physical media can ideally last longer, but is of course susceptible to being lost or stolen, damaged beyond repair, and so on. Digital has the potential to be far more resilient, as long as the original source is available or you can and have made backups. If I'd come home today to find a smoldering crater where my house had been, my Steam library would still be available
Regardless, this is a topic that's been rehashed a lot. My point was more along the practical line. Simply put, physical media has not really been the product, it's been a delivery solution. The right solution for an offline device with no local storage probably won't be the same as one with broadband and a hard drive.
It makes more sense that a carry-anywhere device with access to all your stuff be based on digital content/licenses rather than physical media. The capability to do it is there, and it's a better user experience on the whole.

And seeing as how you have many(myself included) in areas that will be 10 years at least, if not more, before decent internet is available. Fastest I have right now is 12Mbps which amounts to 2 when actually downloading and the current plans don't make it sound like it will come soon enough. Mygamecollection(which integrates nicely with backloggery and tracks some other stuff) might help if I were to go digital but i still just have trouble with coming to terms with the digital age. I can understand most apparently like it, but for me it's just strange growing up in the 90's and early 00's and having aspergers I just don't like digital being shoved down my throat like companies would like to...especially when the more reliable forms of storage are still mildly too expensive and decent reliable internet is too...

Hi WiiU owners,
I'm looking into a super cheap deal on a WiiU locally. The reason it's so cheap is that the tablet game pad is not included. Is it safe to assume that I can buy another WiiU tablet on eBay and synch it to this WiiU?
If all goes well, I will show you guys pictures of the whole deal.

I'm sure there's a way to do it since Nintendo has sold replacement Gamepads on their Japanese site. I've never had to sync a different one to my system though, as I imagine would be the case for most users.
Main thing I'd check out beforehand is if you can actually find one cheap enough for the deal to make sense. From what I see in a quick search, most are in the $90-100+ range (Nintendo sold them for something like $108), and you can buy an entire refurb system direct from Nintendo for $200 or so. Individual parts can be fairly cheap if it needs to be repaired, but not present at all I dunno.
'course, a bunch of game or something could still make it worthwhile.

Indeed. Pictures are forthcoming.

Indeed. Do we really want to go back to the times when games were released with game breaking bugs and were simply never fixed? Or the few games that were fixed in newer batches and when purchasing the game you have to guess and hope you might have a copy that has the bugs fixed.
I've owned 4 copies of Metropolis Street Racer, before finally getting the best release. And I've owned 2 copies of WWF No Mercy to get one without the save glitch.

Dig this. WiiU console sans tablet, plus power supply, sensor bar, hdmi cable, 2 pro controllers, 2 wiimotes with motion plus, and sixteen games. Games are Super Smash Bros, Super Mario 3D world, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros U, Mario & Sonic at London Olympics 2012, Nintendo Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns, 007 Legends, Assassins Creed IV, Zombi U, and a handful of sports games.
How much did I pay? $60.

That's an absolute steal. Congrats!
I just bought my last Wii U game, I reckon, before the new Zelda comes out. I got a physical copy of Fast Racing Neo. I didn't even realise it had come out, I had been keeping an eye out for a while and then saw it on Amazon, so picked it up.

That is an awesome steal! I'm still looking for some of those games, I'd buy them new but I don't know at this point. I really think the wii u has been massively underrated and underexploited to what it is able to do. Of course you have the 3ds too where games don't take advantage of the gimic as much anymore(from what I can tell) in ways you used to hear about. But still I love this system! Just wish I was able to really give it a go right now but I have too much I'm working on at this point to give it that go. I will in a while though with Sin and Punishment hopefully....

I'm not seeing it anywhere on Amazon?
