1. Mercs (PS2)
2. Darkstalkers 3 (PS1)
3. House Of The Dead Overkill (Wii)
4. Mega Man 3 (PS2)
5. Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters (PS2)
6. Halo 2600 (Atari 2600)
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
8. Castlevania Chronicles (PS1)
9. Shadow Of The Colossus (PS2)
10. Capcom Vs. SNK Pro (PS1)
11. Capcom Vs. SNK 2: Mark Of The Millennium (PS2)
12. Super Street Fighter IV (PS3)

so my PS3 arrived today. And I'm ecstatic. I REALLY think I'm gonna love this console. The first game I bought was SSFIV with the sole intention that I would be able to play online against my bro's here. Of course most of you have months of practice on me, so I figured I should spend some time practicing. I beat the arcade mode surprisingly fast on Normal difficulty. I used Chun-Li, as I have since SFII. Oddly I had to continue like 3 times against DeeJay, but I beat my arch rival and the final boss without breaking a sweat.

Thoughts on the game itself: fucking wow! First off, I'll be the first to admit that I dragged my feet about these current gen Capcom fighting games. Remember? I started a thread about how they didn't look appealing to me. But now I "get it." This is EXACTLY the kind of game I want from a machine like this. It's full of incredibly fleshed out graphics with amazing detail, and yet it FEELS like a SNES game to me. I love that. I couldn't be more pleased with the execution.

I also think that the concept of online play is brilliant here. The way you can play arcade mode solo until one of yr friends quarters up on PSN.... woah. I mean it's an honest to goodness attempt at revitalizing the social aspect gone away with arcades.

That being said, I'll be ready to start sparring with some of you dudes soon. But not tonight. Honestly, my hands are fucking camped. I've been playing for about 2 hours and the Dual Shock was NOT meant for fighting games. I REALLY need to get one of those MadCatz fighting pads ASAP.

i agree that baten kaitos is a solid game overall. my main complaint is about the combo system, which i found to be a great idea but poorly implemented. it's great you can generate new and better cards, but the combinations are so random and i don't think the average player would get even a fraction of them without using a guide. i played this a few years ago, and i'm about ready to give the follow-up a try.

I do agree that the more specific combos were weird most of the time. I didn't use them all that much myself, but even without them the chaining of large combo together using the spirit numbers for the card prizes was very satisfying. Hell, I managed to get a Final Straight Sunset (a combo with spirit numbers going from 9 to 1) on the final boss and that alone took out a quarter of his health.

oh, yeah, i should've said that better. the combo system itself is great and really kept me interested in the game, esp. since as you progress you can hold more cards in your hand and deck. i meant the "hidden" combos that produce useless items like "charred wood" or whatever.

I have played more hours of Street Fighter IV (PC version) than any other modern generation game, even more than I've spent on Minecraft (which I think deserves a game of the decade award). SFIV really is a great game. Once I become intimately familiar with the game though, I did find I have a lot of gripes with it, but I definitely got my money's worth. I'm excited for the PC to get Super SFIV AE though.

Mega Man Zero 4. Meh. I only had two full tanks and mostly spammed the Z-Saber on the boss rush and the last boss's final form.

What's to mock? Peggle's fun.

As an aside, Peggle Hole sounds dirty.

Thoughts on the Game(s)

Holy hell am I glad this shit fest is over. This had to be one of the most boring and repetive games I have ever played, easily the worse Final Fantasy in the main series, really had to push myself to finish it. Honestly can say it is the only FF game I would never want to touch again. On the rails for 95% and some of the boss fights are stupid hard. Shit characters, dialouge that seems like a joke most the time and a boring and hard to follow story due to all the stupid and similar sounding names.

XIII-2 is meant to be coming out soon, if they change close to everything about XIII it might just be a half good game.
