Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Does anybody know if there is a list of compatible/incompatible Super Famicom games when using a region converter cart? I've got a PAL system and two different converters and they are both inconsistent at best. I've got a Datel Universal Adapter (not expert) and an unmarked one that has "Import cart" in risen letters on the cart.
Super Famicom games I have are Rockman 7 (works but cuts out on completing a level), Donkey Kong Country (sometimes doesn't get past the Rareware logo, sometimes comes up with blue incompatibility screen) and Super Formation Soccer 95 (always shows the blue screen).
I know I should just mod or get a japanese snes, but that is a bit more money than I want to spend currently.
Any help appreciated. I'll even take a smug thread redirect at this time.

But that's ultimately what you should do if you're wanting to play NTSC games. I would recommend the actual NTSC console over modding.Sload Soap wrote:I know I should just mod or get a japanese snes, but that is a bit more money than I want to spend currently.

Also it is far easier to "mod" a american snes. Just cut two pieces of plastic and boom you can play japanese games on that too.Ziggy587 wrote:But that's ultimately what you should do if you're wanting to play NTSC games. I second getting an American SNES. It took me just a few minutes to wrench out the tabs with some needle nose pliers and it was good to go. It also gives you access to all NTSC games which is a lot trickier to do with a Super Famicom.

That's a really good way of thinking about it; thanks for the advice!noiseredux wrote:Lisalover, would you rather someone hand you PDS, or the money you would get for it? There's your answer.

@Kalessin - yeah if only my hands weren't shaky as crap when cutting....that said might not matter anyway because the last one I did had some white lines technically going horizontally across the sheet(vertically if we're holding it like it's in the case). Guess next month I'm buying new paper and ink or something...

I'd take a look and see if there's any small local print shops in your area man. The price you pay for them (I think I pay like 60 cents a sheet to get it printed on legal paper so it's not cut off at all) vs the upgrade in quality is pretty nice. Honestly, once you figure in the cost of the ink and paper, I'm not even sure if it's really significantly more expensive or not.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
