They have their ups and downs. The sound quality of the characters voices, textures, and draw distance are slightly better on the PS1. The N64 version has somewhat blurry textures, the voice samples had to be compressed, and the draw distance is a little lower. However, the N64 version has anti-aliasing so it doesn't look really low res and pixelated like the PS1 version.

N64:

Despite its shortcomings, I Personally like the N64 version more just because of the anti-aliasing.

N64 doesn't have that weird warpy texture thing going on so there's a plus in that too. I don't feel that the 'blurriness' of the textures really hurts this particular game. Kinda makes it look a tad better to me.

The voice samples are noticeably compressed sounding, but not unbearably so. Sounds about the same as any other N64 game with voice samples.

Really I'd probably recommend the N64 version personally if the audio isn't a dealbreaker for you. Keep in mind though that you can only get the sequels on Ps1, so if you think you might be interested in them and you're the type who doesn't like having a game series split up over multiple consoles, it's worth considering.

It's too bad Sony wont just ax the XMB in favor of designing the menus like they have the new PS Store. I really love the new design. The XMB, while really nice when the PS3 came out, isn't quite as efficient and quick as it once felt to me.

I just played Silpheed for PS2 and it is a surprisingly good shmup!

I bought it like a year or two ago for only $1.99 because it was one of those tier deals where the more games you buy the more you save and I needed just one more game to seal the deal. $1.99 was the cheapest game I could find. It has just sat in my unplayed pile ever since, becaise I expected such a discounted game to suck.

I'm glad I got it, now. High production values for a shmup with slick graphics and a lots of action.

So Nintendo's "Mario Mania" guide is actually just a SMW guide with a cool Mario retrospective at the beginning... Neato!

I held a Wii U Gamepad today at Gamestop. Very nice, I didn't expect it to be as comfortable as it was.

I see that some people have found some WiiU displays. Now I really, really want to find one myself. Guess I'll have to plan a trip to Gamestop or Best Buy some time soon.

There's too many must-play games coming out at once, and there's not enough money! Halo 4, Resident Evil 6, WWE 13, Dishonored.
