I've only ever done it at Tea Time. I would think that at some point a huge chain or a score (maybe 2milllion?) would trigger it in-level, but i've only seen it at Tea Time myself.

(It's about two minutes in.)

holy fuuu - I seriously don't know how to play this game.

How do you pick up enemies and throw them like that?

HOW DO YOU TAKE THAT BOSS' AXES AND THROW THEM???

EDIT: Ok, figured out how to grab/throw. Turns this into a very different game!

Yeah, button 2 to grab and button 2 to throw.

Button 4 OR hold shot to put enemies in bubbles.

Keep a bubble on screen and shoot it for a max hit OR keep it on screen and bounce it off enemies for a chain - every enemy you kill with the same bubble is a chain. You can theoretically bubblize the first enemy and keep it in play the entire stage.

The first boss - yeah, if you focus on one of the weapons you can dislodge it, pick it up, and throw it at him.

Little bit upset because the run right after this one, I was poised to stomp this score, but took a really bad death, and lost it. :(
This game is furgen' outstanding, though. I knew I liked it more than Cotton 2 from the brief 5 minutes or so I had spent playing it a time ago, but the more I play it, the more I love it.

Also, as far as I'm aware, there's no button 4 in the Saturn version; the grab button puts zako enemies into bubbles automatically.

I'm playing on Saturn with an arcade stick and default mapping is this:

A - shot (hold for a power shot)
B - grab/throw
C - change
X - shot (down / left)
Y - hyper shot / enemy bubbler
Z - shot (down / right)

That's raised the stakes a bit. Great score!

Had a pretty good run. My top score for stage 1 is far better. If I can bring that along, that would be nice. That octopus is a bastard. There's hardly any room to maneuver against him.

Oh, I think that's called "Tornado" in the options, right? Does that turn the enemies into orbs, or bubbles like when the enemy orbs go out of the screen?

I took a look through the manual, and I realized for certain that this game uses fighting game commands for "command attacks" which all capture enemies if they hit. The arc attacks are pretty tough for me to do when I'm actually trying to. The (back) -> (forward) shot command is a pretty easy way to get a chain going, though.

I also figured out from reading the manual, that you speed up by holding down the shot button, and slow down by holding down the grab button. No more bombing on the stage 2 boss when it starts chasing me.
