No Country for Old Men
Another Coen brothers film. Great movie all around. I could really tell that the people who made Fargo were responsible for this.

Love both films, but doesn't OLD MEN seem more realistic? I actually prefer FARGO, but there is something about Old Men that will always make my hair stand on end.BoringSupreez wrote:No Country for Old Men

Planning on screening a few movies later tonight, but nothing of interest. The Lorax and Wanderlust are fairly good, but 2012 hasn't been cranking out any hits yet. Really looking forward to LINCOLN, an also looking forward to the vomitorium that will be the Summer movies of 2012. THE AVENGERS ASSEMBLE will be tons of fun, and I'll love all the shit fest that will be Summer movies, but there really isn't any huge stand out.

No Country For Old Men was great, no doubt, but there was a very brief part that completely took me out of the movie for a second, and that was when I noticed the infamous newspaper prop.

this newspaper nonsense blew my mind and piqued my curiosity. i found out that its basically cheaper to buy this stock newspaper then it is to pay the royalties in using a real one. very interesting.

But couldn't they have a new fake one made instead of using that same one over and over?latenitevacancy wrote:this newspaper nonsense blew my mind and piqued my curiosity. i found out that its basically cheaper to buy this stock newspaper then it is to pay the royalties in using a real one. very interesting.

i'm guessing it's either just a basic stock prop that ends up being used by everyone or some kinda weird inside joke by whoever picks out these props

i dont know why no one wants to change it. apparently some store in hollywood sells it as a prop, and they allow you to change the cover but nothing else. i dont know why everyone uses the same one, as already stated probably as an in joke. i'm almost certain that's the reasoning for the coens.
