Just want to let you guys know:
You can order the retro 3 pack at GameStops' website right now for full price and have it be shipped to you upon release. I opted to take that route rather than the in-store preorder.
Amiibo!!
Re: Amiibo!!
I was told Walmart has Charizard and Wario up on their website for sale a few hours ago, not sure if it's still there if someone is looking.

Re: Amiibo!!
Thank you for the heads up. I recently picked up Charizard but I'd been looking for a Wario.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Yes it was. Serves Nintendo right if this picks up steam and has mass sales depriving them of selling the same amiibo multiple times for those wanting to retain sales.

Yeah, I can;t imagine many amiibo actually get used in games so I don't see this having much of an impact honestly.Tanooki wrote:Yes it was. Serves Nintendo right if this picks up steam and has mass sales depriving them of selling the same amiibo multiple times for those wanting to retain sales.
Re: Amiibo!!
Depends how Nintendo keeps up with it. Various Smash amiibo have secondary games they work with. The Fire Emblem characters also work in that STEAM game on 3DS for instance, and I believe there's a few others too.

Oh, I know all of that. I just get the distinct impression they're being bought as collectables first and foremost, and the game functionality is a bonus.Tanooki wrote:Depends how Nintendo keeps up with it. Re: Amiibo!!
I'm sure they are but for those who use them as intended, it's a money saver due to the intentional design to only store 1 game on them which really wasn't necessary.
I have 7, they're desk toys. I'll have 10 next month when that ROB, Duck Hunt, G&W Guy set pops up. The wall lining the base of my 2 work monitors will grow if I ever find the wave 1 stuff that gets hosed up annoyingly bad on ebay with flippers as I'm out 3 I'd like (and if one, Pit, gets picked up, I'd grab Palutena too due to the NES ties.)

Re: Amiibo!!
First off, let's talk about what games require save data on their amiibos. There are 3 that I am aware of and those are, Smash Bros. for your virtual sparring partner and Mario Party and soon Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will.
Three games. Three...just three. How many games use Amiibos in one way or another? 17 (some of which are not out yet).
Stop the presses! Clearly all those hardcore Amiibo smash players want to use their amiibos in Happy Home Designer! Hell the Mario Party Amiibo only uses Save data for the direct Mario Franchise.
Oh man. Nintendo is screwing us over biiiiiiig time. Time to get out our signs and protest!
