I think that Xenoblade Chronicles and Binding of Isaac are the only 3DS games that require a new 3DS system. I may be wrong about that though. I also think that system improves performance a bit on regular 3DS games (but I may be wrong about that too).

Notably, the DSi only had three exclusive, retail titles, but I don't think that any of them were worth losing GBA compatibility.

EDIT: alienjesus beat me to it!

Hmm, 2 exclusives that aren't all that exclusive. Wonder if the NX will be backwards compatible. Best to wait and see for now. 8)

For what it's worth, my understanding is that outside of possibly load times, the extra power only effects games that were specifically designed to take advantage of the New 3DS, such as Code Name STEAM (You can fast forward turns faster on New 3DS than original).

This is correct, and so far only Nintendo has done it, and with very few titles.

I love my Wii U. (Seriously, I love it. It's awesome.) If the NX has some sort of Wii U (or <swoon!>Wii and Gamecube) backward compatibility, it will be a "day 1" purchase for me.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Monster Hunter 4 used it too, but it might have been wrong.

I've seen video comparisons and loading times are reduced by a few seconds. It's not necessary, but is a slightly better experience (which could be the overall motto for New 3DS systems, it seems).

Accurate, but at least with DSi you got access to DSiWare downloadable games - including a few that were pretty decent. Shantae, AlphaBounce, PiCTOBiTS, Undead Storm, Tetris Party, and Starship Defense, and Pop Island all still get occasional play here.

Not saying those games were worth losing your GBA slot, but it's something.

Yeah, I got burned last time with the DSi, and I wasn't about to get burned again. Now, I wouldn't mind a New 3DS XL, just for the improved 3D, but it's not worth me shelling out that kind of money for it, especially since I often play with the 3D off anyway. Which might be because it requires me to be a bit more still than I'd like, but still.

Plus, I'd just come off of playing Xenoblade, so playing a compromised (but still impressive) port didn't appeal at all. And I've had Binding of Isaac for years, and don't particularly like it.

(There were some good DSi-exclusive games, though. Risky's Revenge and Dark Void Zero were a lot of fun.)

Undoubtedly. I have many of them on my 3DS, and I have really enjoyed them. (Great Whip Adventure is totally awesome.) After I beat King's Field IV, I may make a concerted effort to beat all of my DSiWare games since I don't think that any of them are particularly long.

I got kind of burned on DSi too, if anything over the GBA slot loss which sucked and them locking down their systems for the first time then too.

The New3Ds on top of Steam also enhances Smash Bros which has some rotten load times among other things on the normal unit as it fires up pretty quick and is fast between transitions too on New3DS.

The New3DS even without games, let's be honest, it really has not a title to its name (new) at all, if you didn't just buy it outright, or went all in because of thinking stuff was coming was worth it. I was out $50-60 for it having sold my CIB old red 3DSXL I had, and for me the head tracking and second to that the other perks from it being faster, the reader built in, and the other little bits made it a welcome change. Unlike DSi I don't regret it because I like leaving 3D on and I couldn't on the older model as you could breathe heavily or have your hand slightly twitch and you'd get double vision.
