Ah, I didn't realize you purchased Crimzon Clover with your Christmas money.noiseredux wrote:yeah this is why I like knowing what games we're playing for the year ahead of time. I generally make a list of all the TR/SOTM games I need for the year. Jan-May games I make top priority to buy with any X-Mas $ I get, and Jun-Dec games I buy in May using any bday $ I get.

haha I didn't do that. Instead, the plan was borrow from Mike for half the month but we were in the middle of a big trade that wasn't sorted out so he wasn't able to send in time.
And for some reason CC didn't work in MAME.

Whatever, d00d. Just another game to throw on your big pile of non-reciprocity along with Baldur's Gate and whatever else I've ever lobbied for.noiseredux wrote:haha I didn't do that. Did a couple runs w/ PS2 stick. I feel like I should be a lot better at this game than I am.

Oh damn. The time has come. I guess I have to open up my copy.... Maybe I'll just stick to the backup I have.

Yeah, I tried it to get the write up done. It still has the old school sensibility with lots of modern touches. It will be a good one. Should appeal to the shoot stuff on screen crowd (me

I love the scoring opportunities in this game. Got a couple more runs in this afternoon; modest improvement, got hosed again by the octopus boss on stage 3.
1,585,400 - mjmjr25 - Stage 3 (boss) - 23 chain - 218 hit - SATURN

Not sure yet what's the best way to play this, but I'll throw up a score for now...

1,112,200 - DocHauser - Stage 3 - 16 chain - 74 hit - Shmupmame 2.2
Not bad so far, bit of a Deathsmiles vibe about it at times.
As for playing it on MAME, it was giving me some driver error messages on Shmupmame 4.2, although the game still started up and seemed to play normally. For some reason it ran at around 70% during the menu screens, but 100% when the actual game started. But after playing for a credit it froze and I had to force-quit MAME. I think it uses the ST-V bios, so maybe if you have the right version, then there won't be a problem.
So I went back to Shmupmame 2.2 and everything seems to be ok.

ST-V bios is required for MAME. On MAME 0.141, the only issues I've encountered are stuttering music and sound at times. Gameplay is smooth with no hiccups. Graphics are even high resolution in spots! Very nice looking game so far.DocHauser wrote: I think it uses the ST-V bios, so maybe if you have the right version, then there won't be a problem.

Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2013 (Cotton Boomerang)
Ok, so after a few runs, and trying out all the characters, I think I finally got this down.
ExedExes - 1,693,100 - Stage 4 - 37 Chain/51 Hit - Needle/Cotton3/Appli3 - MAME

That's one heck of a score line
I think we should at least put the characters used out too only because they all have different shot styles. If I'm gonna be in charge of maintaining a list this month again I'd like to have that data out there as well.
