What shmup are you playing now?
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
I feel the same way about Gradius III (PS2). I can't progress very far in it at all. Unlike the SNES port, where I could dominate, this I'm being dominated!

Yeah, the snes port of gradius III is much easier than the arcade version.
I've been playing a bit of Shikigami III, but I've kinda been breaking from shmups. If anything I'll just be more into them once the breaks over.

yup Gradius III is a beast. I don't think I ever beat lvl 2 actually. Yikes.

I couldn't get past the Moais (level 5). Then again, I'm playing on easiest....

Thanks for reminding me! I think I can change the difficulty on R-Types.
Never bothered checking before.

I'm pretty sure you can. My new thing is playing shmups starting at the easiest level and then continually trying to beat them at higher difficulties one notch at a time.

I never really notice a huge difference in difficulty, unless its done in the fashion of Mushihimesama.
If I put Gunbird 2 on baby or expert, I get just as far.
Novice modes can be pretty fun though.
how are the differences in gradius? I could only ever get to stage 6, and the sprite flickering caused me to get hit by things I couldnt see. Prolly had too many options

Also, I forgot to mention I went into full on gamer rage last night when I almost beat Galactic Attack for the first time, but, I was on my last ship and died right at the end.
So much for beating my first SHMUP.

As if there's any other way...for the good shmups, at least.
