Exactly this. Sometimes , even if you do have the time you are not in the mindset to play videogames.

The first one is excellent. Intriguing over-the-top story, Zelda+God of War game play. Recommended.
I thought this game was another "wannabe", I didn't even think about playing it

I don't think there will ever be an indie bubble, because, indies are people they are not businesses. They will make a game, good or not, if it fails financially there will be others who are willing to try their luck. Unlike game studios, you don't have to search for investors with $10,$20, or $30 million to start one. Also indies, unlike startups, have no investors behind them. Many times its just 2 to 10 guys working on bare minimum, probably the most expensive items they are going to pay for are PCs.

Maybe indies will become so popular, they will be like local restaurants with their niche customers. If each indie studio could offer something for 6-10k customers at $60 per year, they can make $360k/year which would be enough to make a living for 3 people. A million gamers can support up to 100 studios per year.

The only problem is the signal to noise ratio in finding those gems amongst the mountains of crap. I'm still looking of a great website that makes the narrowing down process a bit easier, but I haven't found such a site yet.

I played some games that I feel like on par with console quality like Limbo, Broken Sword(psx), and Bastion. As for the mountains of crap you are absolutely correct.

I find the idea of an "indie bubble" to be kinda hilarious. It's pretty much hinged in this notion that indie gaming has only been around since like, XBLA or something, when indie games have existed for about as long as gaming itself has.

Those were indie games. These are Indie Games. Note the capitalization. Gaming has entered its douchey underground music fan phase.

People call it a "bubble" because it appeared to expand really fast and now it a "thing". That's not accurate, though. I doubt it's something that is a fad, and I doubt it's going to "pop". It's not like sub-prime mortgages or something. It'll probably stop being news ... and it'll just become normal.

The only way I could see there being a fall of some kind is if indie developers collectively don't fulfill funding goals. Like, if more than half of the kickstarted indie games just took the money and ran, or something. Yeah, sure there'd be a bubble burst ... but I don't think it's a situation where anyone is taking advantage of anyone else, so I doubt there's a bubble of any kind. Maybe just a popularity trend. Most of that is mouth service from "journalists" though. That'll go away, but I doubt the numbers will change significantly.

I'm kind of blown away by the replies above. I thought the first was -awful-. Did you guys above play this game anytime recently? I tried playing the first for the first time earlier this year, and it hasn't aged well in any regard. Went for the highest difficulty too since I heard they're really easy, and that didn't make it any more fun or anything. The combat was really dull and extremely repetitive, just something about it wasn't rewarding at all. The jump attack to kill the flying bat things was so annoying. etc

Good luck dude. lol
I beat the game last year and found it quite enjoyable, very Zelda-esque, and it's one I would recommend to fans of adventure games. Maybe this one just rubbed you the wrong way...

^Ignoring that this is a response to a question on the previous page, this is a great Random Gaming Thought on its own.
