Ah, yes. I remember the year I made that discovery. The year before everything had been great and I'd had a blast. Went back the next year.... fond childhood memories destroyed :( Those were sad days.

Now if I go, all I have to look forward to is my one funnel cake of the year and the art exhibits.

I still have fun on carnival rides. What's not to like? Turn your brain off.

My father likes carnival rides and he's 63.

I don't know how true, or at all, but I saw a Modern Family episode where Phil couldn't go on roller coasters because an inner ear thing as you get older makes you more susceptible to motion sickness. If that's true hope it never happens to me - I love carnival rides and roller coasters.

There was a guy last year who had his 80 or 90 something birthday at a local amusement park, riding the coaster several times in a row (he's a, literally, long-time enthusiast) so everybody's different.

I haven't really been able to handle amusement park rides without feeling ill since having a pretty serious surgery a year ago. I used to really love roller coasters too. :(

I'd say with lawyers it's more like 50%.

With doctors, I'd say 33% tops.

Any other arbitrary numbers you want to make up based on your own limited experience and related assumptions or judgments?

Sure.

10% of the mods here are dicks. :)

In all seriousness, I have two very personally close friends who are lawyers. One is an asshole, so in my experience, 50%.

I also have six friends who are doctors, and a few friends who are nurses. Out of the doctors, I only know one who gives a flying flip about her patients, so I went a little high with 33%. The rest of the doctors talk about "how fat" or "smelly" or "disgusting" their patients are. They only want their paycheck. And the majority are in family practice, which says a lot.

Sounds like a high percentage of your friends are assholes.

Birds of a feather.

I hate "giving up" on some of my friends, especially friends I grew up with. My buddy, let's call him Gus, is a super mecha asshole. I'm talking "wreck his bmw while drunk and tell the cops he was carjacked by a black guy" asshole.

After passing the bar exam, at least in NC, you have to have people close to you send in letters that acknowledge the fact you are fully confident in the lawyers work ethic and honesty. Gus gave me a letter, I never signed it.

Still, I try to be there for him in times of trouble. Plus, he's a long distance friend, so that helps a lot.

My wife and I are lawyers. In law school, we estimated that two-thirds of our classmates were nice, decent people...but one-third were very likely sociopaths. Accordingly - from my experience - I would say that 33% of lawyers are probably not very nice people. (I have not been to medical school, but based on my friends' experience, I would agree with Luke that the percentage is likely higher for doctors.)
