And no maintenance crew, no lawn crew, but having to worry about the roof, the ac/heating units, replacing carpets, having to deal with shitty neighbors and not being able to call a landlord to deal with it (won't happen for me, just sayin'), paying for the house to be pressure washed, paying more on taxes, home owners insurance, property taxes, and the refurbishing! OH THE REFURBISHING!

Home ownership is awesome, don't get me wrong, but the work NEVER ends. I mow, the grass is tall in three days. I mulch, but still need to weed. Trim the hedges, edge. Update the bathroom. Clean the windows. Remove the hornet's nest. Brush of the cobwebs outside the house. Better re-seal and stain the deck. While I'm re-staining the deck, might as well re-stain the fence.

Just know that when you buy the Ponderosa, you have to take care of the ranch.

I wish i could afford the ponderosa. The place we are buying is where foxhound grew up. We just finished painting and staining the baseboards in one of the game rooms last month.

No you don't. My house isn't huge by any means, but it is a nice three story house with a fairly big yard that kicks my ass every stinking day. Not that life isn't full of "and now this?" moments, but a house is a huge responsibility.

Super happy I bought the house I live in, and I always had the "I want my money going towards an investment" mindset, but again a lot of work comes with owning a house. All the little things add up, BIG. For all the money you put into an "investment", I believe renting is more cost efficient. It's all about if you want "that house".

Smile: The brother in law, his fiancee, and my wife are going to the beach today. Ahh, house all to myself. They wanted me to take the day off to go the beach, and I don't enjoy the beach.

Grumpy Gus mode on: I don't understand going to the beach unless you want to ogle women. I don't see being hot, sweaty, stinky, and doing nothing but breathing as "relaxation". "But you can go swimming!". Yeah, In God's cesspool; I'll pass.

And I do love the outdoors, as long as I'm doing something. But if I want to relax and have fun I'll take a bottle of wine and a Lifetime original movie.

Frown: Getting ganged up on because I said "Being uncomfortable in hot and humid weather isn't my idea of relaxing". Brother in law's fiancee replied with "By your skin tone, that's already obvious".

I won't even say what fat joke popped right into my head that I didn't say. I'm not pale, but I am German, and I'm white, and um, so are a lot of people. Again, if she needs to change her body, it shouldn't about her skin tone (sorry, that one slipped).

Chubs also had the audacity to say "So what are you going to do today, nothing?".

It's called work.

Can't wait for these people to leave, for good.

I see how it is, you are no longer invited...

As a Southern CA native surrounded by beaches, Dude! Yeah, I'm part of the food chain and sometimes swim with leopard sharks, part of the fun. I love the pool, but also enjoy the surf.

Say, a related Beach and Luke Culinary joke.
Are visiting relatives like fish? Three days later both really stink! :D

To be clear, I'm a super Grumpy Guss today. I can't wait for these people to leave, for good. They're awful guests who haven't thanked us for a damned thing, and leave a trail of mess that they expect me to clean up. Spoiled kids be spoiled.

I'm high energy. These two probably complain that they have to make an effort to chew and swallow their food. If there was a badminton set, volleyball, wakeboards, surf boards, ANYTHING, I'd go to the beach. "Laying out" is on my top five list of "Most not relaxing things to do". The most exciting thing you can do is turn over. Wow. Fun.

/rant

It's only 11am, but I'm about to pour a bottle of scotch, light a cigar and play a quick game of croquet while my dog prances around the back yard.

One of those days.

 Sounds like you have sunburned beached whales in the house, hopefully they wallow away soon.
