I'm realizing that I have become less and less interested in realism in videogames. I am more and more interested in surrealism. I want a psycho-sensory experience that is only possible through the inventive use of our videogame medium. It should only bare analogous resemblance to real life rather than feel firmly rooted in the laws of physics and linear narrative.

It's not the shelf that counts. It's what's on it...

I'm getting these inexplicable urges to cosplay as the Pop'n Music version of Commodore Perry. Just looks so fun

But I still haven't finished my other Pop'n cosplay

trying to learn to play fighting games with a stick. Frustrating. I'm so used to fightpads.

Haha, yeah it's a big change. The buttons are easy to learn but the arcade stick takes some time. In my experience, I remember just jumping like crazy every time I tried to perform any special motions because I'd accidentally tilt the stick too high. That and learning to dash was annoying because it's actually way more work on a stick than on a pad.

totally!! I can't get used to the stick itself. Just doing the quarter-circle Ryu thing takes a lot more effort from me now. Its' weird. I've always used a stick for shmups, but fighters seem so weird to me. I'm just kind of curious if I can learn it for "arcade authenticity."

Bah, I just can't get around it; I've just been a console guy for too long.

I'm planning a mini fighting game tournament at my school's fall fest this Thursday, but I have to be aware of some students in my school being button mashers; that's why I teach them how to properly play fighting games.
