What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The previews look really cool. I really want to see this one, being a comic fan and all. And I don't mind the footage films. I enjoyed District 9, Cloverfield, Skyline, & Diary of the Dead.
I think you'll really dig it then man. I know I kind of dogged footage films (I generally like them, but I understand why some people don't. I also wasn't expecting it on this one), but they honestly do a good job of it here. Best I've seen really. There are some bits that still don't quite work, and a couple of parts where the camera seems to be missing (dramatic closeups, its like they got caught up in the moment or something  ) but its good.

It has a very comic book nature too, not just in the powers but in the plot, and I loved that so I'm sure you will too.

Hurry up and go see it so you can talk about it.

 It's a shame, really.. Those movies could have actually been decent, if it weren't, you know, for all the damn sparkly vampires and they're wretched teenage angst...

:sigh: The things we put up with for our women...

My wife has a friend who's really obsessed with Twilight, and for a while she tried quite hard to get my wife into it too.

She got halfway into the first book before she couldn't stand it anymore.

Having said that though, she still sees all of the movies with her friend even though she doesn't enjoy them much (she says the books are worse than the movies because the writing is bad), because she's a good friend like that. I still feel bad for her though.

Not bad enough to go along, but still.

Just got back from Chronicle. Very cool movie. The last 20 minutes or so were very "Akira." I loved it. Definitely a BluRay buy for me.

Dr. No (1962) by Terence Young

The first entry into the Bond series remains one of my favourites. Connery has never looked better in the role, and despite a few cheesy scenes (such as the ridiculous 'dragon' that scares the locals), Dr. No for the most part doesn't rely heavily on the tropes that would later become a de facto part of the series. Bond never uses any crazy gadgets, armed only with his Walther PPK, the villain is more cruel and calculating than outlandishly maniacal, and while Bond's cool wit is in evidence, it's not in the usual form of a post-kill pun or quip. I think one of the best aspects of Dr. No is simply in how well paced it is, action, intrigue and subterfuge are perfectly intertwined so as to never create a lull in the tempo, despite the titular villain never being shown, nor his true intentions revealed, until the final act.

Best line; "That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six."

Saw The Wolfman last night. It was more violent than I expected, but good. Anthony Hopkins is, as usual, a pro at being fucking creepy and weird.

Tonight we went out and saw The Woman in Black. Good stuff, and genuinely creepy. The ending surprised me though. Its what you might call bittersweet.

Saw "The Descendants" at a matinee today. Clooney was at his best in this one.

That sex scene near the end of the film was pretty weird/bad. Besides that, it is a great movie.
