That's how it always appears. The graphics and presentation improve, but the game design seems rigidly confined.

That's why I said a good game for 8 year olds, or rather young kids with tons of free time. It's all too mindless and sloggy to hold my interest for long. I say that based on watching various Youtube videos showing random Pokemon entries, as well as playing a few of these games myself for short segments.
