You don't have to imagine. Go check out just about any fighting game community. Or play League of Legends.

They sure seem to be taking their sweet time upgrading people it seems....
The speeds vary with DSL, but it is anything but slow. I have one of the slowest connections you can get and have a 1 megabyte upload speed and 15 megabyte download, which isn't crazy good, but isn't a slouch. I can play on-line games without a hitch.

The technology of twisted pair is getting to the end of its usefulness for upgrading. There is only so much power you can push through it.

15? That's better than the 6 I think we get which actually translates to 1 or 2 thanks to how that works out :|

Oh I won't argue that, but to say that it is completely useless, is kind of silly as it can do a good deal of things competently. My only gripe with what I have is it isn't powerful enough for me to do heavy duty streaming, which is what I want to do.

I have a good friend who lives in literal middle of no where:
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=lochapolka+al
And on his 1meg down 256k up DSL connection he not only streams heavily, he also is the biggest PC gamer I know - even more so than JT.

It is all about working with what you have.

That's the thing. If LoL is bad without having money thrown in, imagine how bad it could become if sport were an even bigger a part of it.

I had 768 up and 4 down until recently. There was a tier below that as well.

When I start looking at apartments I'm getting one in the fiber test areas here in town. My apartment now can't get decent internet so I've got my phone tethered to my computer. My dads house actually has fiber because he's in one of the first test areas so that's why I've been staying at his house instead of actually, you know, moving into my own apartment that I pay for.

Ive got 20 down 3 up via cable, at work I have a 10G fiber handoff within feet to a ME hub for the local telecom, so full gig both ways depending on local network traffic. At my old office I had an OS3 and had a personal box hidden in my office running a back up of this site and a couple others aswell as a game server. But they brought in a new IT Director so I 86ed it fast.
