There is also a spell that covers your body in water. It is immensely helpful too. (During my run, I was by no means a spellcaster. Being able to use some basic magic, however, is absolutely necessary to success in the later levels.)
Honestly, if I were you, I would go ahead and complete 4-2 and 4-3. I saved 2-2 for the end of the game.

Re: What are you playing?
Good advice and exactly what I was thinking. I'm going to try and knock out world 4 and 5 first, then 3, then 1 (if I can), and lastly world 2. Primarily because of Flamelurker, that jerk.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Honestly, if I were you, I would go ahead and complete 4-2 and 4-3. I saved 2-2 for the end of the game.
The only magic I currently have is Heal. I use it pretty often. The Heal spell combined with the Regeneration Ring has gone a long way to keep me going.

5-2 is nasty. I would do 3-2 and 3-3 before that one. The 3-2 boss is insane, but defeating it gave me an immense sense of accomplishment.
All of these posts make me want to dive into Dark Souls...Maybe I'll take that on when I finish up BOTW...
Also, and in addition to BOTW, I started up Fantasy Zone II W (3DS). It's totally awesome.

Re: What are you playing?
From what I gathered, the sailing part is the make it or break it part in the game. You either love it and therefore enjoy the rest of the game or you hate it and then dislike the rest of the game.pierrot wrote:I really loved Wind Waker, back during its release. I haven't played a 3D Zelda that was better (although I did quite enjoy Majora's Mask, as well), and I probably prefer the look of the original to the HD update. (I am really not a fan of bloom effects.)Markies wrote:I only walked around the town and I was grabbed at how beautiful the game looked. I was never one to dismiss the art style to Wind Waker, but I do have to say that it holds up absolutely beautifully. The controls felt tight and easy to understand after playing through Ocarina of Time. I have only dabbled into it, but so far I am pretty impressed. I cannot wait to play more of the game.
Whether or not you'll be able to stick with it will probably hinge on how much you enjoy the exploration in sailing, though. I though it was fun, relaxing, tense, and harrowing, but most just seem to hate it. Their loss.
In regards to what I know about sailing, I don't think it can be that bad. I did sailing in Suikoden IV and that had random battles in it. I think I could really enjoy the sailing, so I am looking forward to trying it out.

Oh, geez. I had forgotten that there was any sort of sailing in Suikoden IV. I'm pretty confident that Wind Waker's sailing is far more entertaining than whatever it was that was in Suikoden IV. If you've set the bar that low, I would like to think that Wind Waker would go sailing over it--.Markies wrote:In regards to what I know about sailing, I don't think it can be that bad. After finishing up most of the bonus content in DQ V--I put some time into the final game board, and picked up the Hayabusa Sword (among other things) from it, but it's too much of a monster for me to get to the goal of right now--I thought I might jump straight into Legend of Heroes II on the Mega Drive. Instead, I threw in Ryu ga Gotoku for the PS2, and have made it to Chapter 5. It's a fun game (with some really terrible controls, at times), but in a perfect world, it would be living in the shadow of the, much better, Shenmue series, instead of the other way around. There's really no need to, but I have found myself frequently comparing it with Shenmue, and being disappointed by what I'm playing when I do. The main thing is that, while there's a lot diversions around the town, I don't really feel like exploring it at all. For the most part, I'd rather just move things along. I've been primarily enjoying it as somewhat of a movie, rather than as a game.
Playing it has made me very thankful I always avoided Kabukicho like the plague, though. I also think it's kind of strange that they were able to put a Don Quijote in the game, but not Lawson or Matsuya. They even have the Don Quijote jingle going; It's almost like I'm back in Japan when I'm in there.

Re: What are you playing?
This may seem like a silly question, but what actually is the game part of Shenmue? That game has always seemed way more like a movie than a game to me. The combat in Yakuza is just so viceral, I couldn't be satisfied only watching it. Granted, I did get bored of Shenmue in only an hour or two, so perhaps I missed the fighting parts.pierrot wrote:I threw in Ryu ga Gotoku for the PS2, and have made it to Chapter 5. I guess I can see how someone who prefers a slower, more exploration-heavy and immersive game like Shenmue wouldn't be as drawn in by such a high-drama, big action game like Yakuza which shares such a similar setting.
