one of the great joys in my life is a new Sonic Youth release. This is actually out on Friday, but my preorder showed up early. Spinhead Sessions is a lost instrumental album from 1986, recorded right after Evol and as prep for the recording of Made In USA. It is gorgeous. Lots of ambiance. I love it.

I still remember being a college freshman and playing Jethro Tull on my Winamp list... one day my girlfriend (who played flute) is over, and all of a sudden she gets this look on her face and yells "That... that's not possible! He's triple-tonguing that! How is that physically possible?!?"

Here's a old one by Porcupine Tree. I really love this one. It's pretty much just a guitar solo the whole song with no vocals, but I just think it's well done. It definitely reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd.
