The 1 remaster drops soon this summer and for only $30. 8)

I believe it uses the same engine as Zero.

I started The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the Nintendo GameCube this afternoon!

Thanks to beating Zelda II 2 years ago, I am caught up on my Zelda chronology. So, I am able to start my first new Zelda game and the first 3D Zelda game I played Majora's Mask, over 15 years ago.

The Wind Waker is one of the reasons I bought a GameCube and is one of the big games I have been looking forward to. So, yes, the hype is strong.

I only walked around the town and I was grabbed at how beautiful the game looked. I was never one to dismiss the art style to Wind Waker, but I do have to say that it holds up absolutely beautifully. The controls felt tight and easy to understand after playing through Ocarina of Time. I have only dabbled into it, but so far I am pretty impressed. I cannot wait to play more of the game.

Took a peek into RAGE today, and I was actually fairly turned away. I was looking for something a lot more mindless after all of the Tales and Yakuza lately, and I really wasn't digging the Boarderlands-ish feel (at least that's what I assume Boarderlands is like :P ). Really wanted something more stage-based and Doom-like.

I'm thinking I might give Sengoku Basara or another Dynasty Warriors-ish game a shot instead. Gotta have something to fill the time until Yakuza 3 arrives in like a month :P

Well I seem to steer you correctly so far... I would say keep at it with Rage! It appears to be bigger in scope and kind of Borderlands-esque, but it's really not honestly. The driving is fairly minimal and not that fleshed out, maybe for the best. It only has like 2-3 hub towns I think. So... in a sense it really is simple/level based for the most part.

It's not perfect, but I love its world and it's good stuff. It's really only ~15 hours long or so.

The downside is the ending is pretty bad and there's no like classic id Cyberdemon final boss or anything, it's really bizarre.

I really loved Wind Waker, back during its release. I haven't played a 3D Zelda that was better (although I did quite enjoy Majora's Mask, as well), and I probably prefer the look of the original to the HD update. (I am really not a fan of bloom effects.)

Whether or not you'll be able to stick with it will probably hinge on how much you enjoy the exploration in sailing, though. I though it was fun, relaxing, tense, and harrowing, but most just seem to hate it. Their loss.

Demon's Souls

So far I've cleared:

1-1, 1-2
2-1
3-1
4-1
5-1

I've fought the 2-2 Flamelurker three times. The first two times it eviscerated me. The third time I got its health halfway down. That thing is a bit psychotic.

I'm really starting to think I should be playing this with a guide. Overall the difficulty is fair, but there's been moments that were just NOT fair. For example, Yurt. Having a covert assassin show up and start killing vital NPCs in the Nexus out of the blue was major WTF. Thankfully I caught on before he slew anyone too important. Also the acid spewing bugs in 2-2's swamp! There's no way you could know beforehand that one spit from them can break all your armor and your weapon instantaneously. Which all costs shit loads of souls to repair BTW.

I still very much enjoy Demon's Souls, but perfect this game is not. The camera really is your biggest enemy a lot of times. Why FromSoftware decided to create so many claustrophobic areas, where your camera gets mushed into your back, meanwhile obscured enemies flay your insides, I really don't know. For a camera like this the tight corridors are kind of stupid. Anyway, for a guy not playing as a soul arrow spewing royal mage, not using a guide, not using roll maneuvers, and playing totally offline, I guess I'm doing OK. I make a little more progress each play session. I think I've got about 20 hours in this now.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
