I'm going to be honest and make myself a pariah. I never cared for Super Mario RPG and never played all the way through it. I appreciate the humor and stuff but I could never find anything compelling about the gameplay (to be fair it was a little more interesting than most Japanese RPGs but I rarely go to this genre for gameplay) and the blurry graphical style was kind of an eyesore for me.
As someone who's rarely grabbed by RPGs people often point me towards this one as an RPG that non RPG players should enjoy, but of the RPGs I do like it's usually because I'm grabbed by the world and the story and I'm willing to put up with RPG gameplay if I get to experience more of that world in the process. I guess the world of Mario has never really been something I cared to explore on the level of a roleplaying game.
I never tried another Mario RPG after that but my 3DS XL came with Dream Team so I'll check it out sometime.

Um....so you hate RPGs and thus hate this one too? Makes sense to me. Don't understand why this makes you a pariah.

I suppose I'm used to posting my thoughts on more Nintendo-centric sites and being burnt at the stake for it.
I don't hate RPGs or even this game, I just have a hard time keeping interest in them.

Man this is racketboy. Here you can love shit and hate diamonds and no one will care (with some rare exceptions every once in a while I guess, we are only human).Gunstar Green wrote:I suppose I'm used to posting my thoughts on more Nintendo-centric sites and being burnt at the stake for it.

But honestly if you enjoy JRPGs just for the plot, if I were you I'd just watch the "Video Game movies" people make on youtube. For example I enjoy the plot of the original Kingdom Hearts, but can't stand the gameplay (I got as far as Peter Pan's world back in 2005 but then I abandoned it and lost my memory card, tried to play it again from the start, but I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. So I plan to enjoy the plot by watching videos like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QFYcuzRHSI.) There's no shame in doing that imo. Just enjoy your free time by doing what YOU enjoy

Hey, I don't like Yoshi's Island or StarFox, yet here I am.ZeroAX wrote:Man this is racketboy. And I have to test it, but #242 is in. I may pick up a few more this month, but my main focus is on Ogre Battle.

The original, SF 64 or both? Cause to be honest I don't get how anyone can like the original StarFox today. It has aged so badly, and it has been surpassed by a kilometer from its successor.Ack wrote:ZeroAX wrote: Hey, I don't like StarFox, yet here I am.

The original. I have only played StarFox 64 a couple of times. But there are many folks on here who love the original StarFox.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
StarFox is a real love or hate game and I think a lot of people are pretty ambivalent towards it. Its graphics and gameplay haven't really aged well and even in its day you either liked the Tron-like look and somewhat clunky controls or you didn't.
I enjoy StarFox for what it is but give me a choice between the original and StarFox 64 and it's no contest for 64.
But I also own and kind of enjoy Vortex which is like StarFox: Needlessly Convoluted Version.

The original StarFox is the best Starfox, and one of the best games on SNES.
