Lucky #13, baby. Super Mario World is STILL my favorite Super Mario Bros game of all time. I love this one. I've played through it many times over the years, but I never stop being amazed at it. It's just perfect. I've had a lot going on lately, and really need to unwind. A perfect platformer was a great way to do that.

Total: 71

Three more games, all apropos to the month, and all quite short and enjoyable. Haunted House is extremely fun, and I am now curious to check out the remake which came out today on XBLA. I'll be surprised if it can set the same tone as the original, which is now one of my favorite Atari 2600 games. The Monster wrestling/fighting games are fun for a while but not the kind of thing I will go back to often. Still, they were a nice choice for Together Retro!

First 81 games
Super Quick Hook - iPhone

Plants vs. Zombies - iPhone
King of the Monsters 2: The Next Thing - Arcade

Angry Birds Halloween - iPhone *new*
Bit. Trip Beat - iPhone *new*
Cut the Rope - iPhone *new*
Super Meat Boy - XBLA *new*
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - 360 *new*
TOTAL: 97

Angry Birds Halloween was more of the same from Roxio. If you loved Angry Birds (and let's face it, who doesn't?), then you will love this as well.

Cut the Rope is an addictive, clever puzzle game for the iPhone that has GREAT physics. I had a lot of fun with it, and got 299 out of 300 stars.

Super Meat Boy is absolutely awesome. It is one of the hardest games I've ever played, its funny as hell, and there is a ton of extra content to keep you busy once you do beat it.

Lords of Shadow was great, and the ending is absolutely EPIC. The less said about it, the better, as I don't want to spoil anything. :)

*Edit: Forgot to add that I finally beat Bit. Trip Beat on the iPhone. I used the touch controls and used my finger on the right side of the screen as to avoid covering up my paddle. HARD game, but really fun.

I actually beat Soul Calibur IV through to the credits without continuing several times with different characters on the default settings on my first real play through the game. I am not sure if it is supposed to be that easy of a fighting game, but it was for me. It was also pretty boring.

I finished up my run through the playoffs in Mutant League Football and won the championship. The end celebration is one of the best in any sports game ever, as it involves lots of angry refs and flying body parts. Parts of the game seem sluggish and/or unfair, but by perservering my Dragons brought home the spiked Lombardi trophy.

Ah, the Dragons. I'm more of a Midway Monsters type guy myself, but I've got love for all of them, even the Turbo Techies.

Do you remember what settings you played on? I usually max out the difficulty and speed, but leave the violence at setting 4, not 5. Seems like on 5, which I believe is annihilation, you can beat every team in the first quarter if the reserve settings are changed.

I'm still working on Curse of Darkness. I'm really hoping I beat it by tomorrow.

I just left everything at the default. I should have ratcheted up the violence, though - didn't realize I could do that. All my games went 4 quarters.
