Currently, I'm trying to do an energy weapons build, but there's hardly any ammo around. I don't want to restart again though, and I don't know whether it would be worth it to dump a bunch of points into guns, so...

I love the cannibal perk so much though.
Energy weapons is sort of a late-game build, and when you get to the late-game you won't have ammo problems. But going for rifles (or whatever the skill is called) would still be worth investing points in, as there are a few nice end game ballistic weapons (mostly sniper rifles), and it'll obviously service you well for the early-mid game.

Hmm. Ok. I just hate having a cluttered inventory, so I'll mostly stick to energy weapons, but have some pistols and such. I love the pistols in the game. Can I get the one I got shot with at the beginning of the game? That thing looked sweet.

However, if you were to go back in time, not only were the games awesome but it was a very forward thinking console. Some examples would be the dial-up ability included with every console for online play, VGA out (480p), and online voice chat for console gaming.
Comes down to the game library for me, and PS2 has one of the biggest and best in console gaming. Obviously the DC died prematurely, but it is what it is.
Definitely, PS2 has a fantastic library that is unmatched.

I know I'm in the minority here but whenever somebody exclaims "The PS2 has such a huge/vast/fantastic/insert adjective here/etc. library of games!" all I keep thinking of is "eh, I'd rather play my SNES games".

Well yeah, same here. The PS2 is great and has a huge library, but I'm not a real big fan of most 6th+ gen action/shooter/sports games. So for me the PS2 is basically an RPG machine.

I agree with you there(though sadly I don't even really remember hearing about the dc when I was younger, just happened to see it in one of those videos that talked about video game history stuff when I got bored on youtube)

It's always surprising for me to read this from people because, with the exception of first person shooters, I still feel like the PS2 era is unbeatable in all but presentation and FPS games, which were pretty shitty during that era for the most part. Also I think this last generation came pretty close to surpassing it here at the end.

Edit: HD CRTs were as thick as flies when I was moving out. Now that I'm moving back in and can actually have one again I can't find one. :?

If you are trying to say that ps2 is the better console and has a bigger library, no one is arguing that but Dreamcast is not bad at all. Actually the library is very very impressive for something that lived for 2 years only. Thats almost as old as the Wii U. What do you think of Dreamcast vs Wii U library.

Its one thing that you don't have personal appeal to it, its another that its a mediocre system over all.

As for PS2 vs PS3, I would pick up PS3 definitely . I think the PS3 games are bigger and better than all the PS2 games. Even some ps2 games got HD remake for ps3. I think the only advantage to the ps2 is it might have more JRPGs. Something I would say was because of the different gaming eras both consoles lived in. For example, PS3 probably has more FPS over PS2.

I must say, PS2 is starting to have a nostalgia effect on me. I love looking back at games that were supposed to be cutting edge graphics, and see how it fared

@RyanTheSlaya

What games are you talking about when you say PS2 game library is better outside RPGS?
Lets all agree first that all FPS , 3rd person games (GTAs) , and sport games are better on the ps3. Also HD remakes and bundles count for the ps3 library because you can play them on ps3, so its ps3 library. So Shadow of the Colossus, DMC, MGS, and God of War are all considered PS3 library.

Wii-U all day.

Sorry, that's the way I feel. I don't care for the system outside of a few games, and for my gaming tastes, I don't feel like it's worth owning. My two cents.

I don't see how you think the PS3 has a stronger library, but that's your opinion. Most of the best PS3 games were multi-platform (and yes, cross-gen) with few exclusives, unless you like FPS. Demon's Souls is one that stands out for me, as well as The Last of Us and Heavy Rain, but there seemed to be far fewer innovative titles on the PS3. I like the system, but it doesn't hold a candle to the PS2 in my mind.

Oh god, i hate this JRPG ADD
Don't feel bad about that. Final Fantasy IX is the greatest. You should probably start playing it right now.
Final Fantasy IX is the best one

I didn't say that. Anyways, there are exceptions as always. Half Life for instance.
3rd person games (GTAs)
Super disagree. In terms of presentation many are worse on PS2 but it was also home to many of the best third person games. The original Ratchet and Clank trilogy, Socom 2, Jak and Daxter series, the best Hitman games, God of War, GTA: San Andreas, and various other 3rd person action games.

I wont argue against sports games because, with the exception of SSX and some other "extreme" sports and arcadey racing games, those have generally improved with time.
So Shadow of the Colossus, DMC, MGS, and God of War are all considered PS3 library.
Sure, now they are, but they were on the PS2 and Xbox and GameCube first. You could also play them on a backwards compatible PS3. I wasn't arguing that the library of the PS2 was better at all. As you pointed out, many of those best games are available in some newer, updated form. I was arguing that era of gaming was the best it has ever been. The fact that those collections sell so much with so little effort is if anything, a testament to the quality of those games.
