I made the same joke in IRC!BogusMeatFactory wrote:I just thought about this earlier today when I heard about the issues people were having watching the Xbox1 conference on their 360. If they had a Kinect, when the presenters would shout kinect commands during the conference, the viewers Kinect would pick up on it and cancel the stream.
I would this very funny for people playing the CoD on their new Xbox1. They have the voice chat enabled, but they aren't wearing headphones so the audio is piped through their sound system. All of a sudden you hear some guy scream, "XBOX TURN OFF!" and you and half of the other people in the game disconnect and power down.
Seriously, there is one really big difference between Xbox One and PS4 ... and that's the policy behind the things they're putting out. On PS4, it's not clear whether or not a PS Eye is required for function. They said the social aspect of the system is entirely optional. And there's no mention of any sort of licensing buy back program.
In Xbox One's defense, they did finally say something different about used games http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/repor ... s-voice-c/
But this also means if you take the disc to someone's house ... your Xbox would then be de-authenticated for using that game.
This is like a light version of SecuRom, and PC games are already moving away from that nonsense. (Unless they use Games For Windows Live :\)
More DRM that just hinders people really isn't the answer. I think most developers have seen that. Let's hope they don't make the same mistakes in the console space.
