Funny because I've only truly played rpg's on a handheld. Never really owned a single console based rpg until joining this site(that I know of)

Releasing it on the PS4 is fine - you can play it on the Vita via streaming, if you want

Frankly you can't blame SQEX. The PS4 install base will probably be around twice the Vita's when Type-O comes out, and so it makes a lot of sense to put it there first. I'd not rule out a later Vita port, but I don't understand all the nerd rage over their decision...

I more was curious to know people's reaction to Sony announcing it for both and then saying, "whoops, our bad...just PS4."

Well if they'd put it on vita, that may have increased the vita's chances of survival since it's still not looked upon highly. Plus besides ports of games we've already got once or twice we don't really have any big name rpg titles on the vita that i can really think of...

The fact it was a PSP game. I think it should be on both.

It really should be...though to be honest I'd probably only buy it for vita, that's one handheld that really needs some new to the US rpg's(I've got way too many ports of ones that are decent though)

Since they would be expected to "enhance it" to send it to either the Vita or PS4, it makes more sense to do it for the console with the larger install base.

It does seem a bit backwards as the console FF games generally get ported to handheld systems eventually, not the other way around. Whatevs though, I can read enough Japanese to import the OG game.

Seriously though, there is a full English fan translation for those that can't read Japanese.

An English fan translation of Type-0 also came out recently. You can play it on PSP if you want a portable version. I tried playing it with PPSSPP on my PC, and the result was something like this:



If you want the HD upgrade, you don't have to wait or buy a new console.
