I played and beat it. Basically it's a much more action focused Crysis think there was a hell of a lot more ammo and explosives laying around so it was a fair bit easier. Been ages since I played it though  .

It's probably another average installment in an ultimately average series.

Yeah let's be honest, Far Cry 1 isn't very good. I think it only has somewhat of a long lasting legacy (sequels keeping it relevant aside) because it had some cool tech back in the day. But beyond that it's pretty boring.

Anyways I should have said this in my last post, but I would actually compare Far Cry 2 to STALKER. Hopefully that sums it up enough how vastly different that game is from the norm. I can elaborate if needed, but I know it has some fans here.

Interesting. I played and beat the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. back in 2008, and loved it. If Far Cry 2 can capture some of those vibes, that'd be impressive indeed. Which reminds me, I still haven't played through Clear Sky or Call of Pripyat yet.

Clear Sky... It was weirdly designed with co-op in mind or something, it's more of a quest/MMO-lite kind of thing and completely different. They go all in on the Faction system and neglect the campaign for it. I don't even know how to describe it, but one hour was enough for me. I'm excited to play Pripyat myself someday though.

Clear Sky is the weakest of the entries in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. It's ok, and some of my favorite moments I ever encountered in the series happened there, but there is also a lot I find frustrating, unnecessary, or simply rehashed from the original.

Call of Pripyat I adore and highly recommend. If you have open world fatigue, yes, it may cause that to kick in. But there is a randomness to its large areas that cause chaos in a way only the zone could. The quests are scripted, yes, but when you find the unscripted moments, the game is absolute gold.

That aspect right there is why I didn't try Clear Sky or Call of Pripyat when they first released. They looked like expansion packs regurgitating existing content just remixed. Now that's not to say that's what they actually are, but how I perceived them years back.

Well, that is certainly the case for Clear Sky, but Call of Pripyat changes things significantly and stands alone. You're not in the same areas you were before, you're in much larger settings. Yes, there are similar weapons and rules to the world, but there are also new mutants, and there is a randomness to it that shows that the developers learned from the mods being made for Shadow of Chernobyl. I really recommend the third game.

The only thing that kept me away from Far Cry 2 was the Malaria element. I'm not sure if that goes away later but when I was younger that was a real turn off having to manage those effects with the attacks.

From the Wiki
The player will get malaria attacks every 30-40 real-life minutes. When one happens, the screen will take on a yellowish tint, and everything becomes blurry. In addition, the player is momentarily unable to sprint or jump until the yellow fades. If he chooses to not take a dose of medicine, he will have 2 or 3 more attacks. If the player still has not taken the medicine, on the final attack, the character will fall to the ground and become immobile until he takes a pill. If he has run out of pills then the character will open up his empty bottle, stare at it in disbelief and then pass out, only to wake up in the church in Pala or the medical clinic in Port Selao. During or after the attack, the player can take a pill to relieve the symptoms temporarily. The player can choose to hold off from taking any medicine right away. If the player has lost health and has syrettes available, they must replenish their health before they can take a pill.

I got tired of Shadow of Mordor and swapped for Witcher 3, which I'm loving. Other than being under leveled, the game is great.

Speaking of which... what can I do to level up some? I'm about two levels behind level-wise on every quest I'm doing. I can usually beat them, but I don't want to get too far behind and have to grind.
