From my perspective the worst thing that's happened over the last few generations is as video games have homogenized hardware across consoles and PC, it's sort of stripped PC games of their identity.
There's a bit of a resurgence lately, but it's sort of like a fostering ground for new ideas that eventually become fruitful on console. PC's own sort of quirky set of games are now either cannibalized into something else (fps) or just plain gone. They've almost become features for other types of games, like the RPG.
The platform itself might be seen as a current treasure trove, but that's coming from a Console perspective and then looking at PC. If you've loved PC games from the 80s forward, I could see people being extremely disillusioned.
Maybe it's coming back. We got Grim Fandango and Kings Quest. But ... I dunno.
It's kind of hard to argue the Wii U doesn't have the best exclusives this generation ... it's virtually the only system with exclusives at all (That tend to be actually really good, and so far have been bar setting for the generation)

Completely biased untrue remark, but the exclusives on PS4 and XBO so far have been extremely underwhelming.
If you're someone like me whom plays multiplat games on PC, that PS4 is just sitting there doing jack and shit.
